Course Description: The course deals with the study of karate as a means of self-defense for law
enforcement officers. It includes the instructions on hand to head combat, the safety falls, kick,
throws, fighting stances, pushing and open strikes, hand grips and grabbing, head lock and hammer lock,
training and conditioning of the body through calisthenics, developing force and flexibility.

Module Overview:
This module is one of the Physical Education subjects in Criminology students. The goal of this
module is to appreciate Physical Education not only a subject but how useful it is in our daily life.
Module Content:
1. Downward Forearm block- is a block the purpose of which is to drop the opponent’s hand, foot or
weapon attacking the solar plexus and point below.

2. Inside forearm block- a block that deflects a strike away from the defender and across the
attacks.

3. Outside forearm block- a great way to deflect straight punches and kicks to the head, such as
jabs and sidekicks.
4. Rising forearm block- a blocking technique which is intended to deflect an attack that comes
from above, such as a downward strike.

5. X-block lower- is a block in which the wrists are crossed out in front of the body in downward
position.

2. Inside forearm block and Reverse punch- a combination of inside block and reverse punch.
4. Outside forearm block and Roundhouse kick- a combination of outside block and roundhouse
kick.
5. X-block lower and Double fist punch- a combination x-block lower and double fist punch.
7. Combination of X-block lower and X-block upper and Double fist punch
Note: Every technique will be demonstrated by an instructor during class schedule and support by video
presentation.
