The rise of the machines

1. Which are the fastest growing and fastest declining occupations? To what
extent can these changes be explained by changes in technology?

We live in a period of a new technological revolution. Nowadays, technology has

improved a lot, different robots have started to come out. Technology is now having a
huge impact on different professions. Some professions have been replaced by
technologies such as switchboard operators have been replaced by telephonic and
interactive voice menus. Grocery store employees were also replaced with self-service
machines. But there are professions that cannot be replaced by robots or technology.
Some of these are the medical professions such as surgeon or nurse. I think these
professions cannot be replaced because such professions are complex. I also wanted to
note that programmers or technology creators cannot be replaced either. Technology is
certainly a good thing, but in my opinion, people should work on different professions.

2. What type of unemployment is caused by rapid technological change?

Many people may lose their jobs due to the substitution of technology for their
profession. This will lead to high unemployment. this unemployment is referred to as
technological unemployment.

3. Why, if automation replaces jobs, have jobs increased over the past 250
years?

The potential impact of automation on employment varies by occupation and sector.

Activities most susceptible to automation include physical ones in predictable
environments, such as operating machinery and preparing fast food. Collecting and
processing data are two other categories of activities that increasingly can be done better
and faster with machines. This could displace large amounts of labor—for instance, in
mortgage origination, paralegal work, accounting, and back-office.

And new jobs may also appear.

4. In what occupations is artificial intelligence (AI) most likely to replace

humans?
10 Jobs AI Can Replace

 Telemarketing.
 Bookkeeping Clerks.
 Compensation and Benefits Managers.
 Receptionists.
 Couriers.
 Proofreaders.
 Computer Support Specialists.
 Market Research Analysts

5. To what extent are robots and humans complementary rather than substitute
inputs into production?

In different situations, robots and humans can complement each other. For
example, a robot vacuum cleaner, they are great at helping people around the house. It
seems to me that in these situations they complement.

6. “Our analysis of more recent employment data also reveals a clear pattern to
the way in which technology has affected work.” What is this pattern?
Explain.
The analysis tells the situation in the UK. That closer to 2025, almost all jobs will be
replaced by automation. According to a study by the University of Oxford, in the next 20
years, 35% of existing jobs can be replaced by robots. Jobs at threat from machines
include factory work, office work, work in the leisure sector, work in medicine, law,
education and other professions, train drivers and even taxi and lorry drivers.

Then there is the question of what new jobs would be created for those who lose their
jobs to machines. According to early research, new jobs will appear.

7. Why might AI make work more interesting for workers?

Businesses are using artificial intelligence to improve the productivity of their employees.
One of the benefits of AI for business is that it handles repetitive tasks across an
organization so that employees can focus on creative solutions, complex problem solving,
and impactful work.
