CONTENT STANDARDS
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the formation of typhoons and their
movement within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The learners shall be able to demonstrate precautionary measures before, during, and
after a typhoon, including following advisories, storm signals, and calls for evacuation
given by the government agencies.
LEARNING COMPETENCY
The learners should be able to explain how typhoons develop.
I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, at least 80% of the student can:
a. Define typhoon,
b. Demonstrate how typhoons forms, and
c. Cite the importance of precautionary measures before, during and after the
typhoon.

Typhoon or also known as Bagyo. It is accompanied by very strong wind and heavy rain.
Typhoon is one of the most destructive natural disaster that hit our country.
1. Typhoons start off as tropical thunderstorms. The strong winds pull in moisture from the
oceans.
2. The thunderstorms convert the moisture into heat. The heat causes more air to flow to the centre of
the storm causing evaporation.

V. ASSIGNMENT
1.List the names of the tropical cyclone that cause strong damage to our environment. You

Procedure:
1.Working with your group, put one half liter of water in each basin
2. Add a blue food color in each basin (it will serve as the color of the ocean).
3. In set A, stir the water slowly and add the coffee mate, then observe (don’t stir again).
4. In set B, stir the water fast and add the coffee mate then observe (don’t stir again).
