METARspk will "speak" the current METAR at any reporting station that has METAR capabilities.
A choice of male or female voice can be selected. This allows for "hands-free" checking of the
weather at a reporting station. Up to four stations can be "preset".

The METAR is obtained from: http://adds.aviationweather.gov/metars/index.php.

This may not be the current METAR at a reporting station as a more recent observation may
sometimes be obtained by telephone.

This version is limited to those stations that report the altimeter setting in inches-of-mercury.
Any station reporting the altimeter in pascals will still show the complete METAR at the bottom
of the screen, but the voice will be inhibited from speaking.

If the iPhone is in vibrate mode, turning the voice off (on the setup page) will result in better

xWind is an aviation crosswind calculator that will calculate crosswind and headwind components.

The calculator uses trig calculations to decompose the wind vector into a headwind and crosswind component.
Gust calculations will affect the crosswind component but do not affect the headwind component.

NOTE: xWind should be used as a reference only. Always use proper crosswind charts.

Data fields now appear in a more logical order: the same order you will find on METARs and hear on ATIS (wind
direction/wind speed/gust speed)

Changed keyboard to keypad so that numbers are much larger and easier to type

New compass rose with wind indicator and aircraft icon indicate the conditions you have set

For speed and ease of use, the next field automatically highlights after you enter your info into the current field
(no need to press a "Next" button or manually select the field). Please note that this happens after a certain
character count has been reached for each field:

-Wind Direction and Runway Heading (3 digits)

-Wind Speed and Gust Speed (2 digits)

If for some reason you are flying in triple digit winds (over 100 kts) you probably shouldn't be playing with your
iPhone/iPod touch. However, you can still calculate a crosswind - you just have to manually reselect the field
when it auto advances to the next field.
