Introduction

DEFINITIONS:
• As per IS 7019:1998 Caps and Closures are defined as A cover for
the open mouth of a container.
• A closure can also be defined, as an access-and-seal device that
attaches to glass, plastic, and metal containers. These include
tubes, vials, bottles, cans, jars, tumblers, jugs, pails, and drums.
• A device, which seals the container to exclude oxygen, carbon
dioxide, moisture and prevent loss of volatile substances, prevents
the leakage during transportation, prevents deterioration of the
product from the effect of environment and microorganisms.
