INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this project is to determine if typing is faster

than writing by using statistical evidence. This is my topic of
interest because of the non-stop use of books in my school for
long notes and assignments. If all students were to type notes
and assignments, I believe that there would be more time saved
in class for students and teachers to go over the relevant topic
thoroughly which would improve the understanding of many
students.
METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION

Three laptops and three books and pencils are shared among 6
students respectively, where three (3) students had laptops and
three (3) had books and pencils.
Each student is given the exact same paragraph to write
out. And are timed to see how many words they were able to
write within one (1) minute.
PRESENTATION OF DATA

The graph below shows the number of words typed and

words written within a minute. The blue bars represent the typed
data and the red bars represent the written data.

The data collected from the experiment showed that of the

six students, the three that typed (blue) obtained more words
in a minute than those who wrote.

The table below will show the average words between the 6
students respectively.
Average Blue Red
17+15+10= 42/3 14
13+11+9=33/3 11
ANALYSIS OF DATA:

Based on the data above it is shown that typing is faster than

writing.
DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS

While you can type and write fast, statistics shows that
typing is faster than writing, and is most preferred. It also shows
that while writing there were many grammatical errors which
went unnoticed by the students who wrote, while those who
typed were able to see their errors and allow their computer
software to correct their mistakes.
