To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to offer you my highest recommendation of Molly Miller for a position as a school counselor in your
district. I worked with Mrs. Miller as her principal for approximately four years and am very confident that she would be
an asset to your district.

I served as the principal at Dowds Elementary School for eight years. In this time, our school counseling program
evolved from sharing a part-time counselor to being fortunate to have a dedicated full-time counselor for our building.
Molly was the second counselor we’d had in this full-time position and she completely overhauled our building’s school
counseling program. She determined the most immediate needs of our students and school through surveys and needs
assessments with our parents and families, students and staff, and administration. Molly analyzed this data to develop
targeted strategies, classroom instruction, and schoolwide activities to meet the social-emotional, behavioral, and
academic needs of our students. She regularly participated in our Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) meetings with
parents and families to develop interventions to help our students to be successful, as well as taking on leadership in our
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Building Leadership Team (BLT) meetings. Molly made it a
point to meet with our grade level teams at their Teacher-Based Team (TBT) meetings each month to discuss student
progress and any needs the teachers may have had for their students and how she could help to meet those needs. She
also provided classroom guidance lessons for each of our 15 classrooms every week, in addition to meeting with small
groups and individual students on a regular basis.

Molly regularly promoted positive behavior among our students, with monthly schoolwide themes (e.g, honesty and
apologizing) and service projects throughout the year to serve our community. She provided an array of resources and
support to our families through her partnership with community agencies to help them make connections for everything
from outside counseling resources, food resources, shoe and clothing vouchers, and even providing Christmas presents
for many families in our school community.

Molly frequently seeks out professional development opportunities to continue to refine her practice as a school
counselor and works in collaboration with our other district counselors, as well as those outside of her school district.
She is an advocate and example for the counseling profession.

Please accept my highest recommendation of Molly Miller for consideration for a position in your district. She is both a
leader and a collaborator and would be an excellent addition to your district. Please feel free to contact me if I may of
further service in making your decision.

Sincerely,
Kristin L. Kaple-Jones, Ed.D.
