Activity 8
As someone who is in the educational field, a research that is based on meanings rather than numbers
would have to be the most appropriate. Being in a field where I feel like I hold the future for younger
generations put too much pressure. However, having the enough information with such consistency,
provides the best answers to solutions which can be elaborated further and understood by many. The
importance of qualitative research in an educational field can’t be denied as it is able to address the
research questions "why" and "how" which enables a deeper understanding of experience, phenomena,
and context. Qualitative research allows you to ask questions that cannot be easily quantified in order to
understand certain human experience.

Activity 9
1. Although qualitative researches are time consuming, respecting the participants’ time and effort
is a must. So to minimize such, it is important to set a goal early and consider the outcomes. It is
also crucial that I know my research well so that I will be able to understand the context of my
participants’ responses and interpret them thoroughly as to avoid biases as well.
2. The first step towards achieving anything in life and not just business is to take one step forward
and to start with a strong mind and belief and I will tell this to Ana. Next, I will encourage her to
research on what are already done by the coffee shops nearby. It is important to note what
made the customers like or dislike these coffee shops so she will be able to have a grip on these
things. Knowing what she can do to make her product unique will surely attract and be loved by
customers. Next is the venue. Being familiar with where people usually pass by is a great asset
towards having a successful shop since people will see the establishment easily. Then, Ana can
proceed with smaller details such as marketing, operations, furniture and design, etc. She must
prepare her researched-well budget as this is something that is crucial as well in terms of
successfully starting a business.
3. The very first step towards figuring out what could be the reason is to determine the problem.
After that, I have to know how I can research on this and what method to use like if I have to
undergo a survey or interview and the likes. Once I am able to determine the research design, I
will proceed with my detailed plans such as what my scope is, my research goals, budget and
some other additional relevant information. After carefully planning, the research can now be
done and investigation can proceed. Once it is complete, I can already synthesize and create
outputs and finally, come up with a conclusion.
