“Anyone who speaks the language can teach the language.

” From my perspective, this is definitely not


the case. The meaning of the word “teach” is so much deeper than we can imagine. It includes all the
skills starting from the classroom control of the teacher, communication between him/her and students,
how effectively he/she can teach in a limited amount of time and so on. Just having excellent academic
skills in a language doesn’t make you become a great teacher. If anyone can teach, what is the point of
having “teaching” as a major study in universities? It is because the proficiency of a particular language
alone is not enough to become a teacher of that language.
