Disaster Risk Management aims to reduce the damage caused by natural hazards like

earthquakes and floods through ethics of prevention. It is to ensure preparedness and effective
response by the Barangay and its citizens in the event of a disaster at prevention or reduction of
the risk of disaster, relieve of the severity of results of disasters, emergency preparedness, swift
and effective reaction on disasters, and after-disaster repair and rehabilitation. To improve the
BDRRM Plan in Barangay Buhian, I recommend fostering cooperation of all Barangay Council
together with all the members of the community to attain the vision and to adopt and put in place
the Barangay Disaster Management Plan by every member of the community and ensure all
preparations will be utilized in the event of a disaster.
As per the inventory of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan
(BDRRM) facilities, the barangay can accommodate people that will be displaced/affected in
our barangay hall. The Barangay should actively be participating in ongoing seminars and
disaster response related seminars conducted by the city. The barangay council should always
be aware of the emergency that may occur in the barangay. The barangay tanod should always
be visible within the barangay jurisdiction to assist with any problem that may occur. The
barangay also needs to have a First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, CCTV, Public Address System to
promote readiness in disasters that may occur in the barangay. To be a Barangay with good
governance and administration that I recommend the most to reduce vulnerability. To ensure
the safety and security management in Barangay Buhian, they must put an early warning in
areas that are prone to disaster.
