8th March - Women’s Day, But what about rest???

Here comes Women’s Day 2016, somehow I reflect back and I try to remember my first Women’s Day.
How did I get to know about it? Who told me about it? Very difficult to figure out.

Going down the lane in my memories, I remember till school days 8 th March was none other than a exam
date for some subject and I would have been busy in rotafication for the next day paper. Did not even
know how much this day mattered in my life? Slowly as I moved from school to graduation days 8 th
March did strike but only in news and for me the purpose was to learn as it may appear in objective
paper of any competition exam . College days were followed with poster competition, long debates and
some funny activity to make us feel special as it was 8 th March- Women’s Day. Oh it meant!!!! That its
our day but what about rest of the days ;)

From graduation moved to post graduation, to a college (TISS) which just churned me over and over
again not only on Women’s Day but why other days are different from 8 th March. Though jargons used
fetched good marks in every semester but the same jargon always kept me pinching whenever any day
was deprived of the feeling of Women’s day. I have been quite greedy, I am not satisfied with just one
day for myself , now I want all 365 days as Women’s Day not for me but for my sweet lil daughter.

I want myself to be chilled out without any fear when my daughter comes back late, dresses up as per
her choice, lives alone and free to voice her views. As a mother, I want to prepare my Gen Next to
rejoice all 365 days as Women’s Day.
