Market research firm TrendForce has projected the performance of the

smartphone market in 2022. According to TrendForce, the smartphone


industry will continue to rebound as the global economy returns to normal
and the pandemic situation is slowly brought under control.

The high demand of emerging markets and the cycle of device replacement, is
predicted to bring smartphone sales to IDR 1.39 billion units in 2022 with an
annual growth of 3.8%. The interesting thing is that 660 million units or
around 47.5% of them will support 5G networks.

Samsung is predicted to continue to lead, the South Korean company's


smartphone sales are expected to reach 276 million units. It will have a market
share of 20% with an annual growth of 1.1%. The second position is predicted
to belong to Apple with total sales of 243 million units, covering an 18%
market share, with an annual growth of 5.4%.

The next position in a row is smartphone manufacturers from China, namely


Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo which will try to expand their influence in the global
arena. Xiaomi is predicted to sell 220 million units of smartphones, capturing a
16% market share, with an annual growth of 15.8%. Meanwhile, OPPO is
expected to sell 208 million units, with a market share of 15%, and grow by
2.5%. Meanwhile, Vivo smartphone sales will reach 149 million units in 2022,
with an 11% market share, and an annual growth of 6.4%.
