Hunter education in-person class offered in Glasgow

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks
Hunter Education course dates have
been set for Glasgow. An in-person
classroom course runs March 21-24,
and a field day on March 25. All hunter
education classes are free of charge.
Hunter education classroom
courses are available to anyone age 10
and older and provide new hunters with
a hands-on learning experience that can
be particularly beneficial for people who
have minimal experience in the field or
handling firearms. In-person courses
are led by volunteer instructors who are
passionate about preserving Montana’s
hunting tradition, teaching firearm
safety, ethics, and other outdoor skills.
For youth to be eligible to hunt and
be fully certified during the 2022 season,
hunters must be 12-years old by January
16, 2023. Students aged 10 and 11 can
take an in-person course and hunt as an
apprentice but will not be fully certified
until the year they turn 12.
Students must be registered prior
to attending a class or field course.

Lions finish third in Sidney

Some school history was made, but the one they
wanted was dashed with .04 seconds to play in an overtime
loss at the Eastern C Divisional tournament. Lustre
Christian made some school history this season. The Lions
went undefeated during the regular season, which is a first.
The Lions finished second at the District 3C
tournament, which has never happened before. Then it was
on to the divisional for the Lions and another history making
event was dashed Saturday afternoon in a challenge game
when Kanyon Taylor scored on an offensive rebound with
.04 seconds to play in overtime. The bucket gave Fairview
a 39-38 win and a trip to the State Class C tournament that

Lustre Christian has never sent a team to state. The
Lions were hoping to go this year and had the chance to
pull out a win. The Lions went 6 for 6 at the line in the first
three minutes of the overtime. Elijah Lenihan was 4 for 4 to
give the Lions a 37-31 lead with a minute to play. Kayden
Klatt also hit two foul buckets.
Taylor drilled a three ball, Lenihan went back to the line
where the junior was good on 1 of 2 throws with 39 ticks to
play. Taylor was fouled attempting a three and went to the
line and calmly sank three throws to make it a 38-37 game.
Lustre Christian had control and the ball, but the Lions
turned the ball over at center court setting up a final shot
for the Warriors. Hunter Sharbono took the shot but missed.
Taylor grabbed the rebound and scored with .04 seconds to
play. The Lions couldn’t get a long throw to fall in.
The game went back and forth with 10 ties and 11
lead changes. The 10th tie came with 15 seconds to play in
regulation when Sharbono buried a three ball. The Lions
had taken a 31-28 lead on Jasiah Hambria’s bucket with
3:45 to play. The Lions missed three straight free throws in
the final three minutes. The Lions also turned the ball over
once. The Warriors missed a three ball at the 1:45 mark.
Fairview had to foul to put the Lions at the line. The
Warriors only had four fouls until picking up their fifth
with a minute to go. They fouled twice more in the next few
seconds to sent Kolden Hoversland to the line with 51 ticks
to play. But the senior missed the front end. The Warriors
missed another three with Jace Vitt hitting the boards to set
up the game-tying three.
Lustre Christian led 19-17 at the break and 25-23
after three quarter. Kolden Hoversland led the Lions with
11 points, Lenihan followed with 10, Klatt had nine, and
Hambria eight. This was the fifth game in four days for the
Lions.
Taylor scored eight of his game-high 15 points in the
overtime to lead the Warriors. Sharbono tallied 13 points, Jeff
Tjelde had six, and Tyler Loan five.
The Lions needed a loser-out and a consolation win Friday
to advance into the challenge contest. After falling to Froid-Lake
in a Thursday semifinal game, which I feel was the divisional
championship, the Lions had to face District 3C rival Scobey-
Opheim Friday morning in a loser out game. Scobey-Opheim
had knocked off the Lions for the district championship two
weeks ago in Wolf Point. It was the first loss for the Lions in 18
games.
The Lions won the game from the free throw line where
they connected on 9 of 17 throws in the fourth quarter to pull
out a 43-37 win. After Jace Bilbrey drained a three ball to tie the
game for the Spartans at 30, Kolden Hoversland went to the line
to make 3 of 5 of 6 throws. The senior was 8 for 12 in the game.
His two throws gave the Lions a 35-31 lead with four minutes to
play. Hambria made it 36-31 a few seconds later. Lenihan gave
the Lions a 37-31 lead at the 1:35 mark.
Gage Hallock, Spartans sophomore, converted the old-
fashioned three-point play, cutting the deficit to 37-34. Lenihan
made two more throws with 59 seconds to play for a 39-34 lead.
Bilbrey was fouled attempting a three-point shot. He stepped to
the line and made three throws cutting the lead to 39-37.
Hambria scored the Lions first field goal with 42 seconds
to go, than after the Spartans missed a three ball, he scored the
only other field goal in the fourth for the 43-37 win.
The Spartans led 22-8 midway through the second quarter
and led 25-15 at intermission. The Lions took their second lead
of the game on Kolden Hoversland’s free throw. The Lions first
lead was 2-0 on Hambria’s bucket. Lustre Christian led 30-27 at
the quarter break on Braeden Ewing’s bucket off of an offensive
rebound after Hoversland missed his second free throw attempt.
Hoversland led the Lions with 20 points, Hambria added
10, Kaleb Hoversland six, Ewing four, and Lenihan three. The
Lions were 12 for 21 at the line.
Braxton Wolfe scored 18 points, 16 in the first half, to
lead the Spartans. Bilbrey chipped in 11. The lions defense held
two of the Spartans scoring leaders down. Meagan Machart,
a 6-foot-4 senior, was held to five points and Hallock three.
Opheim athlete Bo Anderson was held scoreless.
The win moved the Lions into the consolation game and
faced a must-win situation for the second time Friday. Lustre
Christian met Bainville for the second time in three days. The
Lions won in overtime, 72-59, Wednesday over the Bulldogs.
The Lions trailed once, 2-0, in a 48-42 victory. The Lions
went on an 11-0 run for an 11-2 lead behind Klatt’s five points.
The highlight of the game was Kolden Hoversland’s three-
pointer. He launched his shot from the Bulldogs free throw line,
hitting nothing but net at the buzzer to end the first quarter. The
Lions led 28-21 at the break. Alex Strickland’s bucket late in the
third cut the deficit to 34-30.
Lustre Christian led 47-39 with 34 seconds to play. Braeden
Romo was good on three throws with 12 seconds to play.
Kolden Hoversland led the Lions with 16 points, Lenihan
added 13, Ewing 10, Klatt five, Kaleb Hoversland and Hambria
two each.
The Lions finished the season with a 21-3 record.

Here are 2 more apples-to-apples comparisons as
evidence:
My emoluments example previously noted comparing its
application to righty Michael Flynn versus the nonapplication
to the more serious violations of lefties Hunter and Joe Biden.
And, the treatment of the January 6, 2021 “armed insurrection”
versus the summer of 2020 lefty BLM “Mostly Peaceful”
protests.
Clearly, there were violations of the law in both the
“insurrection” and the BLM protests. But look at the
differences in the level of violence and the consequences to the
participants in both events. Regarding the level of violence, if
you listen to the lefties in the media and Vice President Harris,
the “armed insurrection” was as violent as nine-eleven, Pearl
Harbor and the Civil War. When in fact, nobody participating
in the “armed insurrection” was armed (“armed” means having
a gun) and the only person killed was an unarmed white Trump
supporter who was entering illegally through a broken window
and shot dead by a black Capital Policeman whose identity was
held secret for 3 months and when identified was immediately
exonerated. Also, after one year, nobody who participated
in the “insurrection” was charged with insurrection. When
this misnomer was pointed out on Tucker Carlson show, the
next week, the DOJ found some old retired Navy officer who
had been locked up in solitary confinement on misdemeanor
charges and charged him with insurrection just so they didn’t
have to change the name of the event. Aside from a crazy man
wearing horns (Jacob Chansely aka “Chewbacca Guy”) sitting
peacefully in Nancy’s chair, there were 138 policemen injured
and none killed and $1.5 million in damages to the capital.
Compare the violence of that one incident to the violence
of BLM’s and Antifa’s 574 “mostly peaceful protests” in 2020
where over 2,000 police officers were injured and one killed,
25 other people killed and over $1 billion damage and looting.
The looting figure comes from insurance company estimates.
In relative terms, BLM “mostly peaceful protest” were 14 times
more injurious to police, 667 times more costly, and infinitely
more deadly than the Pearl Harbor-like “insurrection.”
Now, let’s see if the left believes in equal punishment
under the law. What happened to the BLM rioters, looters,
arsonist and murderers in New York City, Saint Louis, and
Portland? In NYC “Charges against hundreds of NYC rioters,
looters have been dropped” read the headline of the New York
Post. Not surprising since Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr
office is busy investigating Donald Trump’s businesses and his
station has a backlog of 3,500 unindicted felony cases waiting
to move forward.
Vance told his prosecutors “For many of these
commercial burglaries, you will be asked to reduce the initial
felony charge to a misdemeanor and to dispose of the case…”
In the Bronx, more than 60% of arrestees have had charges
dropped according to investigation by NBC New York.
In Saint Louis, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt
says St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner has not charged
any of the people that St. Louis police officers have arrested
during recent violent protests and, as a result, they’ve all been
released. It seems unfathomable that every single person
arrested then was released since the level of violence was
extreme with police officers being shot at, a retired police
captain murdered, people throwing rocks and gasoline and
frozen water bottles at police, firefighters being assaulted, and
businesses burned to the ground.
Then there was this headline about Portland: “Most
charges against Portland protesters won’t be prosecuted, DA
says.” The New York Post reported that “Hundreds of Portland,
Oregon, protesters arrested during two months of clashes
with law enforcement won’t be prosecuted, the city’s district
attorney announced. Multnomah County District Attorney
Mike Schmidt unveiled his policy change regarding hundreds
of the 550 protest-related arrests since late May. Under the
new policy, Schmidt’s office will ‘presumptively decline’ to
prosecute cases that don’t fit his criteria, including interfering
with a peace, parole or probation officer; second-degree
disorderly conduct; first- or second-degree criminal trespass;
third-degree escape and harassment. Rioting charges will also
not be prosecuted unless accompanied by another crime not
included in the list, Schmidt said.”
And that’s how the left applies the law to BLM protestors.
Compare that to the treatment given to the participants
in the January 6th “insurrection”.

dared to sit in Speaker Nancy’s chair? He has been sentenced
to 41 months (3.4 years) in federal prison for the crimes of
“civil disorder, obstruction, disorderly conduct and ‘other
charges’”. Nobody knows what “other charges” this poor slob
was convicted on. Perhaps a parking violation for parking
his ass in Nancy’s chair. According to Michael Sherwin, the
top prosecutor in the DC area, the scope and scale of this
investigation are really unprecedented, not only in FBI history
but probably DOJ history.” It’s so big the FBI, has stopped
investigating many other crimes Sherwin has bragged that
his office has rounded up about 400 people who were in or
near the Capitol on January 6, 2020.
He said: “We wanted to take out those individuals that
essentially were thumbing their noses* at the public for what
they did.” (* “Thumbing your nose” is a rude gesture and now,
evidently, a crime.)
Even so, the FBI has found scant evidence that the attack
was the result of an organized plot to overturn the election
result, according to four current and former law enforcement
officials. “90 to 95% of these are one-off cases,” said a former
senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the
investigation. “Then you have 5% percent, maybe, of these
militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was
no grand scheme with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of
these people to storm the Capitol and take hostages.”
Getting information using lefty-designed internet
search engines on the status of incarcerated thumb nosers is
suspiciously difficult. Visiting them is exceptionally difficult.
Republican Congresswoman Greene had her request to visits
the D.C. Jail rejected for months. When she and Congressman
Louie Gohmert finally succeeded, they were upset with the
“God-awful conditions” and compared their conditions to
“political prisoners of war”. Greene found that many of these
“men that have committed misdemeanors, and they have been
held for nearly 10 months now…” She also noted that the
January 6th political prisoners are denied cash bail and blasted
corrections officials for restricting them to solitary confinement
for up to 23 hours a day for the first four months, and then for
22 hours a day for two more months. Many haven’t even gone

“… the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public
trial.”
For some of them, their most serious offense is a
misdemeanor like trespassing and their 6-months of initial
solitary confinement waiting for a trial would be more severe
than the punishment they will receive if they are found guilty.
There is no question that the January 6th “insurrectionists”
are being subjected to unequal treatment under the law for
political reasons by the left. If they were BLM of Antifa
protestors, they would be out on bail and many would not
even be prosecuted.
CONCLUSION
Lefties are not hopeless deplorables. Some of my
favorite conservatives are former lefties. Thomas Sowell,
David Horowitz, Whitacre Chambers, and Nien Chen were
communists true believers. What caused their transformation?
I believe they tested their ideology against their real-life
experiences and found there were too many contradictions.
Being former lefties, they understand the left, inside and out,
they understand its attractions and its faults. They also realize
how precious freedom is and how fragile it is. Not all lefties
are potential Thomas Sowells. Those that have done horrible
things for the common good and were willing “to break a few
eggs” to create their Utopian omelet probably find it difficult
to entertain the thought that they have done some irreparable
harm. It’s not easy to admit those kinds of errors. Just having
to admit to yourself you’re wrong is too much for many people.
Not being a former lefty, I lack the insight into their
attraction to forcing people to join their perfect world. I lack
their certainty that I know what’s best for someone else. I am
curious why contradictions like double standards don’t bother
them and how they can justify their arguments using terms
they cannot define. Given all those puzzling qualities, that
doesn’t make them my enemy. Many are my talented and
gifted friends. I want to understand them better, and don’t
want them in charge of my life or my country. ~ Bill Follmer
