Rot. nt. 7732456-0 eng TAMD 122A 6-cylinder, 4-stroke, direct-injected turbocharged marine diesel with aftercooler — crankshaft output* 294 kW (400 hp). The TAMD 122A is a powerful, reliable and economical marine diesel engine. Using Volvo Penta’s extensive equip: ‘ment programme, this engine can be adapted to suit specific customer and marine requirements. The engine block and cylinder head are made of cast ron. Smooth, vibration-free ‘operation as a result of an extremely well-balanced design with powerfully dimensioned crankshaft bearings. Optimized injection system to obiain top-class efficiency throughout the practical operating range. ‘The electrical system is ofthe plug-in type and allthe cables are already installed. A 24-vol electrical system is standard, The engine can be equipped with a number of drive outputs for pumps, compressors and the ike. Compact external mea- surements and low weight in relation to power output facilitate installation and leave more space for the payload, for example. Heat exchanger cooling or keel cooling is available. In Corder to comply with the requirements of classification ‘societies and shipping authorities relating to operation in unmanned engine rooms, this engine can be supplied ina fully classifiable version. ‘Many details have been designed to facilitate servicing, They include replaceable pape filters forthe intake air, spin con oil and fuel fiters, an oll sump with inspection covers to tenable the easy removal of connecting rod bearings without, removing the oll sump, and an oll pump to remove the lub ricating oi Volvo Penta has a well-established service network in ‘more than 100 countries. Inorder to comply with the require- ments ofthe classification societies and shipping authonties relating to operation inunmanned engine rooms, the engine can be supplied with the watch keeping components which are currently required {or this type of installation. As the watch keeping sysiem can be incorporated in the engine ex-works, the work of instlla- tionis facilitated and the risk of uncertain or faulty installation is eliminated This engine is suitable for mult-ongine installations. This has been shown to have many advantages compared with a single engine which is both larger and heavier: — Compact dimensions. ~ Flexibilty; to power output on board vaties and only the number of engines Tequired or ie occasion need 1 be used and can be operated under h loads. This isthe best solution from the angle of wear and reduced fuel con- sumption, — Durability; i one engine tails, the other ‘engines sill produce sufficient ouput. ~ Easy, clean and straightiorward servic- ing; low parts costs and comfortable ‘working conditions for enigne room staf! ~The compact dimensions enable the unit to be placed virtually anywhere in the engine room. This results in more ‘space forthe payload For additional technical data on pump and ‘compressor operation (type of operation HD), see page 2 under "ENGINE". Fuel ‘consumption ratings refer to ISO Specific Fuel Consumption, but are based on fuel with an LHV of 42,700 kirkg and a density of 840 gfe, ‘See page 4 for dimensions.
