Direction (6-10): There are 128 cubes which are coloured as per two schemes viz.64 cubes each having two red
adjacent faces & one yellow & other blue on their opposite faces while green on the rest.64 cubes each having
two adjacent blue faces & one red & other green on their opposite faces, while red on the rest. They are then
mixed up.

(A) 0 (B) 32 (C) 128 (D) 64
Directions (11- 15): There is a solid cuboid, two opposite faces all are painted black, two opposite faces are
painted red and remaining faces are painted green. After painting the cuboid is divided into 72 cubes so that 64
cubes of smaller size and 8 cubes of bigger size could be obtained. Bigger cube have no face black.

Directions (33-36): The six faces of a cube are painted in a manner that no two adjacent faces have the same
colour. The three colours used in painting are red, blue and green. The cube is then cut into 36 smaller cubes in
such a manner that 32 cubes are of one size and the rest of bigger size and each of the bigger cubes has no red
side.
Directions (37 – 40): A cube of side 4cm is painted red on the pair of one adjacent surfaces, green on the pair of
other adjacent surfaces and two adjacent surfaces are left unpainted. Now the cube is divided into 64 smaller
cubes of side 1cm each.

Solutions
(1-5):
1) Such cubes are related to the corners of the cuboid. Since the number of corners of the cuboid is 4.
Hence, the number of such small cubes is 4.
3) Only 4 cubes situated at the corners of the cuboid will have 4 coloured and 2 non-coloured sides.
4) There are 16 small cubes attached to the outer walls of the cuboid.
Therefore remaining inner small cubes will be the cubes having two sides green coloured.
So the required number = 24 - 16 = 8
(6-10):
6) 64 and 64 cubes of both types of cubes are such who have at least two coloured faces red each.
Therefore, total number of the required cubes is 128.
8) Second 64 cubes are such each of whose two faces are blue.
10) First 64 cubes are such each of whose two faces are green and second 64 cubes are such each of whose
two faces are blue. Therefore, green and blue colours have the same number of faces.

(11-15):
Red= (Top, Bottom); Black = (Front, Back); Green = (Left, Right).
Total cubes = 72; Small Cubes = 64; Big Cubes = 8
11) Number of cubes having only one face painted = Number of central cubes = 24.
12) Number of cubes having only two face painted = Number of middle cubes = 32
13) Number of cubes having only three face painted = Number of corners cubes = 8
14) Number of cubes having two or more faces painted = Number of cubes having two face painted + Numbers of
cubes having 3 faces painted = 32+8 = 40
15) Number of cubes having no face painted = Total Number of cubes – Number of cubes with atleast one face
painted = 72 – (24+32+8) = 8
(16-20)
16) Such cubes are related to the corners of the cuboid. Since the number of corners of the cuboid is 4.
Hence, the number of such small cubes is 4.
17) Number of small cubes = l x b x h = 6 x 4 x 1 = 24
18) Only 4 cubes situated at the corners of the cuboid will have 4 coloured and 2 non-coloured sides.
19) There are 16 small cubes attached to the outer walls of the cuboid.
Therefore remaining inner small cubes will be the cubes having two sides green coloured.
So the required number = 24 - 16 = 8
20) Number of small cubes which are Black and Green is 8 in all.
Hence, the number of remaining cubes are = 24 - 8 = 16

21) Number of small cubes having only two faces coloured = 6 from the front + 6 from the back + 2 from the left +
2 from the right = 16
22) Such cubes are related to the corners of the cuboid and there are 8 corners.
Hence, the required number is 8.
23) Number of small cubes have no face coloured = (4 - 2) x (3 - 2) = 2 x 1 = 2
24) Number of small cubes having only one face coloured = 2 x 2 + 2 x 2 + 2 x 1 = 4 + 4 + 2 = 10
(25-28):
25) Such cubes are related to the corners of the cuboid and in the cuboid there are 8 corners.
Hence, the required number of small cubes is 8.
26) 2 from the front + 2 from the back + 3 from the left + 3 from the right + 6 from the top + 6 from the bottom = 22
28) Required number of small cubes = 6 from the top and 6 from the bottom = 12

33) So there are 32 small cubes and 4 big cubes
4 big cubes don't have any red side so they are out.
Red colour is painted on top and bottom.
And vertically it is divided in three layers and 1st and 3rd layer have the small cubes.
So remaining 32 cubes will have 1 red side.
Therefore, answer is=32
34) We paint a cube with same colour on opposite faces and then cut it into 36 smaller cubes.
So, for this first we cut the cube horizontally making three pieces where top and bottom pieces should be of same
dimension and the middle one should be double of the two.
Then w cut the top and bottom pieces into 16 pieces/cubes each and middle one should be cut into four cubes of equal
size.
So, total no. of cubes =16+16+4=36.
Now the top face contain 16 cubes and bottom face contain 16 cubes.
The middle cubes of upper and lower face are coloured on only one face =4+4=8.
35) All the corner cubes are three coloured painted.Hence there are 8 such cubes.
36) By observation
(37-40):
37) Number of smaller cubes with three surfaces painted = Number of smaller cubes at two comers = 2
38) Number of smaller cubes with two surface painted = Number of smaller cubes at four corners + Numbers of
smaller cubes at 5 edges = 4+(n−2)×5=4+2×5=4+10=14
39) Number of smaller cubes with one surface painted = Number of smaller cubes at four surfaces + Number of
cubes present at 6 edges + Number of smaller cubes at two comers = (n−2) 2×4+(n−2)×6+2
=4×4+2×6+2=16+12+2=28+2=30
40) Number of smaller cubes with no surfaces painted = Number of smaller cubes from inside the big cube +
Number of cubes at two surfaces + Number of cubes at one edge = (n−2) 3+(n−2)2×2+(n−2)
= (2)3+(2)2×2+2=8+8+2=18
