There are both advantages and disadvantages for Ashmount Primary school outsourcing some of
its teaching to tutors in India. The obvious one is that it can cut the cost. Firstly it is far ceaper to
use tutors from BrighrSpark Education in India, costing £12 ($7.5) an hour for each student, which
is cheaper than employing private tutors at a cost of £40 ($64) an hour. Moreover, the service
allows students to complete their work on the computer, which means there is no need to pay for
a rent and other running cost. The second advantage is that outsourcing improves workforce
flexibility. For example, there is no need to recruit teachers during busier trading periods as
subcontractors can be used to increase output. Conversely, during less busy periods, there is no
need to reduce tutors as the outsourced firm is responsible for staffing.
However, the disadvantage of outsouring include there will naturally be concers about quality
assurance issues at BrightSpark Education and quality management can becomemoredifficult.
Furthermore, outsourced tutors need to be monitored to ensure that deadlines are met and
quality standards are observed. This will increase the costs of administering to Ashmount Primary
school. But the administering cost increased is far less than the cost that have been reduced.
In conclusion, I think the advantages for Ashmount Primary school outsourcing outweighs the
disadvantages.
