Entertainment sector to grow three-fold by 2020

The entertainment industry is poised to grow from Rs. 9,600 million to Rs. 28, 000 million by 2020. This is one of the
major findings of a report on the entertainment industry prepared by a consultant.

The report has divided the industry into six segments – films, television broadcasting, online streaming, music, radio
industry, and live entertainment.

In the next five years, advertisement expenditure is expected to increase from 0.4 percent of GDP to 0.5 percent.

The film industry is estimated to grow from Rs. 2,300 million to Rs. 4,000 million by 2020.

TV broadcasting is expected to grow from Rs. 2,400 million to Rs. 7,000 million, and online streaming will witness growth
from Rs. 1,400 million to Rs. 5,400 million by 2020.

The music industry, currently at Rs. 1,250 million, is estimated to grow to Rs. 1,900 million. The radio industry having a
size of Rs. 80 million will grow to Rs. 120 million by 2020.

Live entertainment, having a size of Rs 150 million, is projected to grow, at a growth rate of 50 per cent per annum and
be Rs 1,100 million by 2020.

This report is different as it contains much more information than the earlier reports. This is an investigation report as
the writer has investigated and found the necessary information to write the report.

The major finding in the report is that the entertainment industry is poised to grow from Rs. 9,600 million to Rs.
28,000 million by 2020. This is a very high increase. As the heading says it has grown three-fold. Thus we can call
it a dramatic increase.
