TYPE TESTS

The following type test reports/ certificates may be submitted along


with the bid & all test certificates and reports shall be NABL approved valid
type test reports not older than 3 yrs, in absence of which the tests shall have
to be conducted without any cost implication.

8.1.1 Surge Arrestor


Type test certificate for the following tests shall be submitted by the bidder as
per IEC-60099 ( latest edition)

1. Insulation withstand Test (Dry) & (Wet).


Residual Voltage Tests.
2.
3. Long duration current impulse withstand test.
Operating duty test.
4. a) High current impulse operating duty test
b) Switching surge operating duty.
Pressure relief test .( when fitted with relief device)
5.
Artificial pollution test
6.

Partial discharge test.

9 Porosity Test ofArrestor Housing
10 Mechanical Strength Test of arrestor Housing
11. Power frequency voltage versus time curve
12. Seal Leakage Test.

8.1.2 Structures

a) Certificate of test as per ISS 2062. from the manufacturer Quality Control
Deptt. for the lots from which the material is procured is to be supplied for quality of
steel.

b) Certificate of Galvanizing test as per ISS 2629. from the manufacturer Quality
Control Deptt. for the lots is to be supplied.

c) Certificate of test as per relevant ISS. from the manufacturer Quality Control
Deptt. for the lots from which the material is procured is to be supplied for quality of
nuts , bolts, washers.

8.1.3 Clamps and Connectors

Type test certificate for the following tests shall be submitted by the bidder as per IS-
5561

1) Tensile tests
2) Resistance test

3) Temperature-rise test

4) Short time current test

5) Dimensional check.
6) Galvanizing test ( as per IS 2633) where applicable
7) Short Circuit Test
8) Visible Corona test( as per IS-2071)
9) RIV test ( as per IS-8263).

8.1.4 INSULATORS
Type test certificate for the following tests shall be submitted by the bidder as
per
IS-731/IEC-383

a) String Insulators:
1) Dry & wet power frequency voltage withstand test with corona control rings
2) Switching surge voltage withstand tests (420kv)
3) Lightning Impulse voltage withstand test(dry) with corona control rings
4) Voltage distribution test(dry).
5) Corona Test(Dry)
6) RIV Test (Dry)
7) Mechanical Strength Tests:- Residual Strength test, Steep front wave Test,
Impact Test,& Thermal Mechanical Performance Tests

b) Disc Insulators:
1) Thermal mechanical performance tests as per IEC 575 clause 3.
2) Temperature cycle test IS 731.
3) Puncture test as per IS-731.
4) Galvanising test as per IS-731
5) Mechanical performance test as per IEC-575
6) Test on locking device for ball & socket coupling as per IEC-372(Part-2)
7) Porosity test as per IS 731

8.1.5 Bus Post insulator


Type test certificate for the following test shall be submitted by the bidder as
per IS-2544/ -168
1) Visible discharge test
2) Impulse voltage withstand test
3) Dry power-frequency voltage withstand test
4) Wet power frequency voltage withstand test
5) Temperature cycle test
6) Test for mechanical strength
7) Porosity test
8) Galvanizing test.
9) RIV Test.

8.1.6 Insulator String Fittings:


Type test certificate for the following test shall be submitted by the bidder
as per IS-2486 Part-1
- Mechanical tests

- Verification of dimensions.

- Galvanizing test

- Visual examination test.

- Chemical composition test.

8.1.7 Cabinets/Panels
The enclosure of junction box, terminal box shall be type tested for IP-55 as per
IS-2147. After IP-55 test, 2.5kv r.m.s for 1 (one) minutes, resistance and functional
test should be conducted.

8.1.9 ACSR Conductor:

The following Type test certificates shall be submitted as per IS 398.


1. Measurement of diameter of individual Al & Steel wire.
2. Measurement of Lay ratio of each layer
3. Breaking Load test.
4. Ductility Test
5. Wrapping Test
6. Resistance test
7. Galvanizing test
8. Surface Condition test.
9. Corona test
10. RIV test

8.2 ROUTINE TESTS/SHOP TESTS

8.2.1 Surge Arrestor

Following routine tests shall be conducted as per IEC- 99-4.

1) Measurement of reference voltage.

Residual voltage test.

3) Partial discharge and contact noise test.
Leakage test.(for sealed housing units).
4)
5) Current distribution test for multi-column arrestors .

8.2.2 Structures
8.2.3 Clamps & Connectors
Following Routine Test shall be conducted as per IS-5561.

1) Visual inspection, and


2) Dimensional check

8.2.4 Insulators
Following Routine Test shall be conducted as per IS-731.

a) Visual inspection
b) Mech. Routine test
c) Elect. Routine test

8.2.5 Bus Post Insulator


Following routine test shall be conducted on post insulator as per IS: 2544.

- Visual examination
- Routine electrical test
- Routine Mechanical test
8.2.6 Insulator Fittings:
Following routine tests shall be conducted on insulator string fitting as per IS-2486.
(Part-1)

- Visual examination test, and

- Mechanical routine test.

8.2.7 Cabinets/Panels
The following tests along with routine test as per IS 5039 shall also be conducted.

i) check for wiring.

ii) visual and dimension check

8.2.9 ACSR Conductor ( on each coil)


1. Measurement of diameter of individual Al & Steel wire.
2. Measurement of Lay ratio of each layer
3. Breaking Load test.
4. Ductility Test
5. Wrapping Test
6. Resistance test
7. Galvanizing test

ALL the above test shall be as per relevant Indian/International standards, of


latest edition

8.3 ACCEPTANCE TESTS/SITE TESTS


The selected Bidder shall make necessary arrangements for inspection by
theEngineer of the SJVN and also to carry out in his presence the Acceptance tests The
following Sample/Acceptance tests shall be witnessed by the SJVN Engineer..

8.3.1 Surge Arrestor

Following acceptance test shall be conducted as per IEC-99-4.

1) Measurement of power frequency voltage at reference


current at the bottom of the arrestor.
2) Lightning impulse residual voltage test.
Partial discharge test
3)
4) Special thermal ability test.

8.3.2 Structures

8.3.3 Clamps & Connector


Following Acceptance Test shall be conducted as per IS-5561.

1) Tensile test

2) Resistance test

3) Dimensional check

4) Galvanizing test, where applicable

8.3.4 Insulators
a) Visual examination.

b) Verification of dimension as per IS 731.

c) Temperature cycle test IS 731.

d) Puncture test as per IS-731.

e) Galvanising test as per IS-731

f) Mechanical performance test as per IEC-575

g) Test on locking device for ball & socket coupling as per IEC-372(Part-2)

h) Porosity test as per IS 731

8.3.5 Bus Post Insulator


Following acceptance tests shall be conducted on post insulator as per IS: 2544.

- Verification of dimensions
- Temperature cycle test
- Mechanical strength test
- Puncture test
- Porosity test
- Galvanizing test

8.3.6 Insulator Fitting


Following acceptance test shall be conducted on insulator string fitting as per IS
2486 (Part-I)

- Verification of dimensions

- Galvanizing test

- Mechanical tests.

- Chemical composition test.

- Ultimate strength test

8.3.8 ACSR Conductor ( on each coil)


1. Measurement of diameter of individual Al & Steel wire.
2. Measurement of Lay ratio of each layer
3. Breaking Load test.
4. Ductility Test
5. Wrapping Test
6. Resistance test
7. Galvanizing test
