MODULE INTRODUCTION AND FOCUS QUESTIONS:

Significant events in the past always have different versions, just like controversy regarding the
site of the first Mass ever celebrated on the Philippines. Eyewitness who actually took part in
the significant have contradicting narrations. There are two conflicting claims as to its identity;
one school of thought points to the little island of south of Leyte which in in the maps is called
Limasawa; the other school rejects that claim and points instead to the beach called Masao at
the mouth of the Agusan River in northern Mindanao, near what was then the village of
Butuan. But, where was the first official Roman Catholic mass held?
