Quiz Activity 2:

1. The difference between Erosion and Weathering is that weathering is the decomposition of rocks,
soil, and minerals by direct contact with the atmosphere. While for the Erosion it is a displacement
of solids such by wind, water, and ice.

2. There are 5 agents of erosion, Water, Ice, Wind, Waves, and Man-made.
for the water it’s the detachment and removal of soil material by water. Ice Erosion, it is where large
chunks known as glaciers, eroding in a area over a long period o time with the help of gravity. Wind
Erosion, it is the detachment, transportation and redeposition of solid particles by wind. Waves
Erosion, it erodes sediments from cliffs and shoreline. And lastly Man-made, it is caused by
agriculture, infrastructures, and mining.

3. Water flowing over the Earth’s surface or underground causes erosion and in a steeper slope the
water flossing moves faster and causes more erosion. When water slows down, it starts depositing
sediment, starting with the largest particles first. Runoff erodes the land after a heavy rain.

4. The major ways is by wind and water. Depending on it’s speed, both wind and water can pick up
rock pieces of various sizes and move them to other locations. Tree roots can also cause weather
rocks to move by growing their roots into small cracks in the rocks.
