Information in this document applies to any platform.

PURPOSE

This document details the steps necessary to create a Save Location that can be used as a centralized, protected location to
store development work when using Object Management Workbench.

SCOPE

This document is intended for system administrators, developers, and technical consultants who are responsible for change
management activities using Object Management Workbench.

DETAILS

Purpose for creating a object save location

The Object Save Location is available within Object Management Workbench (OMW). It offers an alternative to keeping new
specifications on development workstations as developers create and modify objects. This change management system allows
users to make changes during the day and save them off to the Save Location when finished or they leave for the
evening. When returning, the changes can be restored. The benefit is that it offers a centralized and protected location for
development work.

The Save Location is essentially a separate and new path code that contains an empty set of Central Objects and an empty
directory structure on the deployment server where you can save off your objects that are still work in progress.

Instructions

The following outlines the steps you need to perform to set up a Save Location that can be used in the development process
to save off your work in progress.

1. Create a Central Objects Data Source for the new path code. This Central Object Data Source can reside in an existing
database or in a new database.
2. Create a Path Code in EnterpriseOne using the Path Code Master application (P980042).
3. Create a new Environment using the Environment Master application (P0094).
4. Create an empty Path Code file structure on your Deployment server.
5. Create tables in the new Save Location using Environment Database Creation UBE (R98403)
6. DeActivate Object Configuration Management (OCM) mappings OCM application (P986110) for F98306 and F98950 for
your Save Location Environment pointing to Central Objects - DVXXX Data Source. DeActivate OCM mappings in
P986110 for F983051 and F983052 for your Save Location Environment pointing to Versions - DVXXX Data Source.
7. Create OCM mappings in P986110 for F98306, F98950, F983051 and F983052 pointing to the Save Location Central
Objects Data Source.
8. Activate OCM mappings for F98306, F983051, F983052 and F98950 created in step 7.
9. Update F983051 table with the Save Location Environment and Deployment Server name.
10. Add a record in Release/Data Source Map application (P00948)
11. Configure the new Save Location in Object Management Configuration application (P98230).

The attachment Creating an Object Save Location details the steps to create an object Save Location for use with OMW. Also
you can review the "Configuring Object Save Locations" chapter in OMW guide for 9.1 tools release for the same information.

Known Issues

Issue 1: Completed save location setup as per the instructions in the document but getting errors when clicking the Save
Button in OMW.

Could see the below error in the jdedebug.log:

SELECT SSOMWUSER, SSOMWSTSTR2, SSOMWSTSTR FROM SY900/F98230 WHERE ( SSOMWSTSTR = 'DV900' AND
SSOMWSET = '20' ) ORDER BY SSOMWSTSTR ASC,SSOMWSTSTR2 ASC

Solution: Need to add the save location entry for the environment in P98230 | Save Location screen. That is the reason for
the error right after a fetch on table F98230.

Issue 2: Facing issues with Step 6 of attached word document, that is running R98403 UBE to create tables in save location.
Specific to Oracle Database.

Solution: In data source setup after the Central Objects save location data source has been created, highlight the datasource,
click the "Default Sizing" row exit and for Oracle, add a record for object name default with tablespace name "DEVSAVET" and
index Space Name "DEVSAVEI". After this, click the form exit "Overrides" and set "Copy Data" to "N" and "create Tables (1/0)"
to 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Is it possible or would there be issues linking the Save Location (DEVSAVE) that is created in EnterpriseOne XE
release to be used for EnterpriseOne 9.1 Release?

Answer: Save location is basically a separate path code you created with its own set of Central Objects Tables, Versions
Tables which you can save off your object specifications. In 9.1 Release there are several new tables introduced into both the
Central Objects and Versions data source. You should not link the old DEVSAVE Save location created in XE and use it in 9.1.
You should create a new save location in 9.1 itself to be used to save off 9.1 created/changed objects instead.

The following shows the difference in the tables that will be created in 9.1 release compared to XE release when you create a
Save Location.

When creating Save Location you run the UBE R98403 (Copy of XJDE0019 version) to create tables in Save Location path
code. Below is the data selection used when running this UBE.

Below is a list of tables that will be created in 9.1 for the Save Location data source (e.g. Central Objects - DEVSAVE):

Question 2: After setting up the Save Location, how to save objects into this Save Location?

Answer : In Object Management Workbench application (P98220), highlight on your object or your project that you would

like to save off to your save location and click the Save button . You will be prompted with the following options:

Click on "No" button to use the traditional Save/Restore Location.

This will save your object specifications to your Save Location.

Later, if you would like to Restore the object specification from the Save Location to your local workstation, you can highlight

on your object or your project again and click the Restore button and you will be prompted again with a similar window
above. Select "No" button to use the traditional Save/Restore Location.
