Job Title: Treasury Manager

Location: Kenya, South Africa, Mauritius or Nigeria

WIOCC is Africa’s leading supplier of resilient, end-to-end managed, wholesale connectivity solutions into, out of
and within Africa. WIOCC is incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius and has subsidiaries in Mauritius, South
Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana, United Kingdom, Corte D’Ivore and Kenya. The countries where WIOCC is
operating is expected to continue increasing in the coming years to cover more African countries.

WIOCC has Network PoPs (points of presence) in many African cities where equipment is usually shipped-to and
collocated. WIOCC also has Network PoPs (points of presence) in some European cities including London in
United Kingdom and Marseille in France.

WIOCC has through Open Access Data Centres (a newly created WIOCC Group company) recently launched a
network of pan-African data centres optimised to serve the needs of the cloud providers and the wholesale
community. First-phase locations will house key submarine cable landings in Lagos, Durban and Mogadishu,
supporting the drive to land international submarine capacity directly into carrier-neutral data centres. Currently
OADC has subsidiaries in 5 African countries and these subsidiaries are expected to grow as the data centre
business expands to more countries.

Job Objective

The Treasury Manager will be responsible for treasury functions for the Group to ensure operational,
administrative and cash flow efficiencies in all the countries where WIOCC has operations. This includes
monitoring the Group’s finances, managing financial risks such as currency risk through applying appropriate
hedging instruments, ensuring all the subsidiaries are adequately funded, ensuring compliance with each
country’s financial and currency regulatory requirements and closely working with other teams within the Group.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Cash and liquidity management through short term and long-term cash flow planning and forecasting for
the holding company and each of its subsidiaries
• Ensure efficient flow of funds from the holding company to the subsidiaries and from subsidiaries to the
holding company as necessary. This includes monitoring, reconciliation and reporting on all
intercompany transactions as well as advising on the required intercompany funding mix
• Short term investment of any excess cash
• Monitor, maintain and advise on the optimal cash balance requirement for the group
• Ensure compliance with different countries’ foreign exchange requirement and making sure that the
necessary approvals are obtained
• Ensure compliance with loan covenants laid down in loan contractual agreements. This includes
maintaining an updated loan compliance checklist
• Working closely with the business to minimize financial risk and forex loss through application of the
relevant hedging instruments
• Working with the Legal department to ensure that the overall Group's financial risk management goals
are met in the set-up of subsidiaries and all contracting activities

• Manage the Group's intercompany loans register including advise on conversion of intercompany loans
to equity
• Manage banking relationships for all the bank accounts in the Group
• Keeping yourself regularly updated on the changing financial, tax and currency laws in each country that
the Group operates in
• Regularly review finance policies & procedures, ensuring that the treasury role functions are accurately
captured and implemented within this framework
• Liaise with other departments in collaborative effort in planning and managing ongoing Group’s projects
• Assist in the annual audit process (internal and external audits)
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing all tasks as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics or related field


• ACCA, CPA or equivalent accounting professional qualification
• MBA is an added advantage

Experience and Skills

• Have strong experience in managing the treasury function as well as experience of treasury accounting
including forex, liquidity, cashflow and various financial instruments in a multinational environment
• Excellent ICT skills including computerised accounting systems
• Good understanding and ability to apply current accounting guidelines and principles
• Strong organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills (ability to build relationships with different
stakeholders) and ability to manage deadlines
• High level of attention to details and dependability
• A track record in setting priorities and problem-solving skills, which support and enable sound decision-
making
• Ability to plan, manage and follow through on assignments and communicate at all levels of the
organisation in a timely and professional manner
• Ability to reflect on one's own work as well as the wider consequences of financial decisions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, think creatively with minimal supervision
