Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are
effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.
The new 5224589 Engine Software replaces the previous 4787381 Engine Software and 5204860 Engine
Software.

Description Of Change: A cylinder head bolt alignment sleeve 4983113 Insert is available for C175 engines.

Two sleeves are required per cylinder head. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of these 2 sleeves. The sleeve
prevents contact between the shank of the bolt and the inner diameter of the head bolt hole.
Before and after Illustration.
The chamfer on the sleeve should be placed downward to aid installation into cylinder head bolt hole. The
sleeves should be installed flush with the top of the cylinder head. A plastic hammer can be used to lightly tap
the sleeve into place.
Serviceable cylinder head assemblies will begin being assembled with the sleeves installed.

The new 4858003 Tool As replaces the previous 1U7616 Piston Ring Compressor Gp and 3642837 Adapter
As.
Reference: Refer to the appropriate Disassembly and Assembly procedure to install the piston rings and align
the ring gaps properly.

Description Of Change: The new heat exchanger frame allows for more cooling capacity.
Adaptable To: The new 4953930 Frame As replaces the former 2007103 Frame As.
The new 4953930 Frame As uses the 3733372 Spacer As with the 24 plate jacket water and 4 plate fuel cooler
assembly to make the heat exchanger.
The new frame is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.
This change is effective for the serial numbers listed in Table 1.

Description Of Change: The new cylinder pack components prevent carbon buildup on the top land of the
piston.
Adaptable To: The new cylinder pack components replace the former cylinder pack components.
The 4716593 Tool As (Installation Tool) has to be used with the standard ring compressor, when installing the
cuff liner components. Also, the new 4858003 Tool As (Ring Compressor) is available, which will work with
cuff and noncuffed liners.
Note: The connecting rods are reusable.
Note: Do not mix the single piece forged steel pistons designed for the single piece cylinder system with the
single piece forged steel pistons designed for the cuff cylinder system. The rotating masses and system dynamics
are different between the designs and are not compatible within the same engine.
Note: Make sure that the 4587071 Sleeve (Cuff Sleeve) is in each cylinder prior to installing the cylinder
heads.
The new and former cylinder pack components are listed in Table 1.

Description Of Change: New highpressure fuel pumps are in the process of being released. All the high
pressure fuel pumps have been built with robustness and quality improvements, including an improved inlet
check valve (ICV), since July 2015.
Adaptable To: The new highpressure fuel pumps replace the current highpressure fuel pumps.
The current highpressure fuel pumps starting with the serial numbers in Table 1 have the improvements.

The new highpressure fuel pumps are adaptable to the above machine engines back to first production.
The new part number highpressure fuel pumps listed in Table 2 are equivalent to the current part number
pumps, but are being released to make identifying pumps built with the improvements easier. Each new part

number will become available at different times, as the stock of the current pumps are depleted, and stock of the
new pumps is received.
Future dated orders and committed planned repair orders (CPROs) should be placed against the new part
numbers starting on 01 October 2016, and all other types of orders should be placed against the current pumps.
Once the current pumps are depleted, the orders will be filled with the new part numbers.
The new and current highpressure fuel pumps are listed in Table 2.
