discovered that language plays an important role in raising awareness and in educating the public about
the realities of life.

For your activity, think of one social issue that our national government needs to address or prioritize.
Write a letter to your chosen presidential candidate to convince him/her that the concern must be
addressed or taken into consideration.

Dear sir,

I would like to discuss something with you, because I was concerned on the Filipino migrants that are
working overseas. Because 2.067 million, mostly women, out of 10 million people. And every year
many of them suffer from terrible, even fatal, abuse. I was hoping that you could put this into
consideration to help them and put a stop to this.

I was very much concerned that the overseas workers are mostly women that make up almost half of
Filipino overseas workers. They may be discriminated against and at risk of physical, sexual and
verbal assault, psychological and psychological abuse. They are subject to breach of contract and
professional exposure and can be deprived of the resources needed for physical and mental well-
being. They are under health threats, excluded from health and social welfare, or forced to work in
states like slaves. Because of poverty that is one of the main reasons for Filipino immigrants. Many
overseas migrant workers rely on informal channels. These channels can be like that means for
various forms of exploitation, violence and trafficking. Increasingly, Filipino foreign workers include
vulnerable groups of individuals traveling abroad to escape hunger in the country. I plead that we must
make an action to these happenings especially on women migrant workers that are the majority.
Because 67 million domestic workers worldwide, most of them women, and nearly all of them from
poor or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. A lack of work at home means that every year
approximately one-fifth of all domestic workers migrate abroad, particularly to the Gulf region, where
they are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, forced labor and violence.

My personal opinion is that however, important steps to protect domestic workers are about the value
of domestic work, the rights they should enjoy, and the important role they play in enabling all other
types of work. Is to educate people all over the world. The government must actively promotes positive
public awareness of immigrant domestic workers, addressing discriminatory attitudes and gaps in rights
and protections in law and practice, and positive social and positive social and protection of domestic
workers. There is a need to raise awareness of financial contributions. I hope you will be able to notice
this letter of mine and help them so that they will able to live a life without those discrimination or
