P3 Week 1- CASE SCENARIO

STUDENT ACTIVITY

Mrs. Helen, a 45-year-old woman, was brought to the Barangay Health Center for check-up. Mrs. Helen had been living with her
daughter Marivic for twenty years till she died in an accident one month ago. She had one cat, who died 2 months ago due to
Parvovirus. Mrs. Helen shared a house with her son Pablo until she was admitted to the Barangay Health Center. Pablo states that her
mom has difficulty sleeping for the past 2 weeks, and has stopped engaging in all social activities, including weekly church services,
and visiting shopping malls. She cries frequently and can be seen staring out into space in the early afternoon. On admission to the
Barangay Health Center, Mrs. Helen says, “I’m a sick woman, and no one will listen to me! I can’t walk, I’m so weak. My head hurts,
and I never sleep more than 3 hours a night.”

Physical assessment finding includes restlessness, Irritable and abnormally sleepy with blood pressure: 160/100mmhg, Pulse Rate:
102bpm, Respiratory Rate: 22cpm and Body temperature 37.2 degree celsius.

Doctor Hannyshane Jamaca prescribed melatonin 3mg/tab, 1 tablet 1 hour before going to sleep and advised to consume a cup of milk
before going to bed.
