Stay Woke, But Stay Kind

"Stay Woke, But Stay Kind" is an article that will awaken every mind and will change
millennial perceptions towards being socially aware. Kristian Somera, the writer of the article,
undoubtedly reveals the truth behind social crimes that have been rampant nowadays. People
should be aware and not be impulsive when using social media as a tool to hurt others. This
platform is used to gather information, connect with people and spread positivity. One day, I was
scrolling through my feed and I noticed this group of people making fun of this content creator
who aims to spread positivity on social media. But they misunderstood the way that the content
was delivered. This is an example for us to be socially aware and know how to filter things since
not all the time people will agree with us.
Digital hostility poses a grave risk to the health and wellbeing of its targets, like what
Kristian Somera shared about the bullying incident involving a student beating up another at
Ateneo de Manila High School, which sparked public outrage. So, the online world can kill
people through depression and discrimination, so we need to limit ourselves and always
remember the cardinal rule of social media, which is "Think Before You Click."
Discerning information that we gather online is very important, especially in this coming
election. There are a lot of people posting false information that triggers the audience from their
perspective. We should stop spreading false information, especially on this kind of platform that
involves a lot of people. In order to achieve the better world that we want, we should insist in our
minds that social crimes, hostility, and online animosity will never be the solution.
With an open mind, social media provides us with an incredible chance to learn from
individuals from other walks of life, cultures, and belief systems. A mind that is open to
understanding and has empathy for people all around the world, as well as being compassionate
to individuals we may not fully comprehend.
This article by Kristian Somera is very promising and, at the same time, it is also
educational. It involves the current issues that we are facing in the online world. It shows how
people transform for the purpose of being socially aware. I am encouraging everyone to read this
article, and just like everyone I also want a safer and peace environment on social media.
