In this short manual, I want to demonstrate, how the P226 E2 grip kit is installed on a
P226 Classic.
Please don`t be bothered by the spotty cloth I used. That is my cleaning cloth, when I
clean my guns.
On older P226 Models, that still have the long hammer spring, you will have to buy a
new, short hammerspring, in order to install the kit. The shorter hammerspring is not
part of the kit. If you already have a newer version, with the shorter hammerspring,
you can keep the used hammerspring.

Tools needed
- 1 x medium sized flathead screwdriver
- 1 x Needlenose plyers (for changing the decockinglever)
- 1 x Workingssurface
Now remove the old grip panels and putt hem aside. You will not need them
anymore.

Now take the flathead screwdriver and push the hammer strut upwards, to remove it.
Push on the spot marked with the arrow in pic 1.3. Put the old hammer strut and
spring assembly aside. You will not need it anymore. Now is also a good time to give
the frame a quick wipe down, where the hammer strut assembly normally is.
Pic 1.4 Frame and old hammer strut
Insert the new hammer strut into the frame. It will only fit in on specific spot, that you
should be able to feel. If it is in the right position, take the hammer spring and slip it
on the hammer strut and then take the new polymer hammer strut seat and slide it
over the spring. Now firmly push the hammer strut seat upward in direction of the
hammer and seat the new hammer strut seat on the two notches of the frame.

To change the decocking lever, unhook the dococking lever spring on the spot
marked in pic 1.8. Remove the spring now. I put my indexfinger on the inside of the
frame, to keep the decocking lever bearing in place.
After the spring is removed, take off the lever and put the new one on.
Now take the spring and reseat it, as it was before.
When the new decocking lever is installed, cock the hammer and decock it, usind the
new decocking lever to make sure it works fine.
If everything is working fine, you can now install teh new grip itself.
It is a bit of fiddling, when you slide the new grip on from the back to the front and
slightly from the bottom, but you will feel, when the grip is in place and cliped on the
frame. Just take your time.

After the grip is installed, double check, that the pistol works fine and put it back
together.
Here to pics for comparing the old and the new grip.
