TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
1. Prayer

May we all stand to feel the presence

of the Lord. Zaskhiya, kindly lead us
in prayer.
(In the name of the Father, of the Son, and
the Holy Spirit, Amen.)

2. Greetings

Good afternoon, Class!

Good afternoon, Ma’am.
Before you take your seats, kindly
arrange your chairs and pick up those
litters around you.

You may now take your sits

Thank you, Ma’am.

3. Checking of Attendance

Princess, is everybody present today?

Yes ma’am.

That’s good to hear, class! Very good

4. Review

Let’s have a review about our past

lesson.

Our topic last meeting was all about

the point, line, and plane.

And what are they class?

Ma’am they are basic terms of geometry.
Exactly!

Besides those three undefined terms,

what are the other terms?
(Students click their raise hand button.)

The other terms are the collinear, coplanar,

Yes, Jamaica?
intersecting lines, and parallel line.

Very good Jamaica!

What are the intersecting lines?

Ma’am intersecting lines are two lines with a

common point.
Very good!

Hannah Abigail, how about the Parallel lines are coplanar lines that do not
Parallel lines? intersect ma’am.

Excellent!

And lastly kindly differentiate

collinear points and coplanar points?
Collinear points are points that lie on the
same line, while coplanar points are points
Yes, Jillienne?
that lie on the same plane.

Very good!

Now, do you have any questions or None ma’am.

clarifications with regards to
undefined terms of geometry?

Alright, if none then let us proceed to

our next lesson. But before that, let's
have a game first. Yes ma’am.

Do you want to play a game class?

Ok, that’s good to hear!

B. MOTIVATION

Okay class, before we proceed to our

next lesson. Our game entitled
“Jumbled Letters”
I’m going to flash jumbled letters and
all you have to do is rearrange the
jumbled letters to form geometric
words. Write your answer in a clean
paper. After that I will call a name to
recite your answer.

Every correct answer is equal to 1 Yes Ma’am!

point. Which of those point/s are
recorded as your recitation.

Is it clear class? We are ready ma’am.

Alright, are you ready class? INTERSECTING LINES

Let’s start… CONCURRENT LINES

1. NGITCESRETNI - NIELS
SKEW LINES

2. CCONURRETN- ELINS PARALLEL LINES

LINE SEGMENT
3. WEKS IELNS
RAY
4. LLPAAER NILES

5. NIEL TNEMGES CONGRUENT

6. YRA UNION

7. CONGEURNT

8. UIONN (the students clap, 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 very good!)

Very good class!

Give yourself a very good five (5)

claps!
C. LESSON PROPER

Let us continue our topic about the

Basic concepts and terms in
geometry. Based on your activity
those are basic terms and subsets of a
lines.

Some of the basic geometric terms on

lines are the following:
1. Intersecting Lines
2. Parallel Lines
3. Concurrent Lines
4. Skew Lines

Since where done in intersecting lines (students click the raise hand button.)
and parallel lines.
Concurrent lines are three or more lines that
Let’s now tackle concurrent lines.
have a common point.
Class, who can define the word
concurrent lines?

Yes, Kaye?
The concurrent lines in the figure are the
three letters m, r, and l ma’am.
Exactly!

Based on the figures, what do you

think are concurrent lines?

Very good! Ma’am based on the figure of concurrent

lines it has three lines presented which has
How would you distinguish concurrent one common point. While intersecting lines
lines from intersecting lines? are the two lines intersect to each other with
one common point.
Yes Joris?
Very good!

Concurrent lines are three or more

lines, if they all intersect at only one
point.

We can now describe the figure by

using the three lines which
indicated/labeled using a lower-case
letter. According to your classmate that
None ma’am.
the three lines are line m, r, and l.

Therefore, Lines l, m and r are

concurrent lines.

Is it clear class? Any questions? We can write and read it as Lines k, n, and c
are concurrent lines.

What if line m becomes line n, then

line r becomes line c, and line l
becomes line k. How do I write and
read it?

Very good!

So, let’s move to skew lines.

Skew lines are lines that do not lie on

the same plane.

Example this figure of skew lines.

The lines l and m are skew lines. Why

because line l and m do not lie on the Yes ma’am.
same plane. where the ceiling and the
floor are lines in space that are not in
the same plane. At the same time, they
do not intersect and are not parallel

Understand class? The line segment and the ray are some of
the subsets of a line. A segment has two
endpoints while a ray has only one endpoint
and is extended endlessly in one direction.
Very good!

Let’s now tackle the subsets of lines.

Joshua, kindly read.

Thank you, Joshua.

We have here a figure of a segment.

A B

The segments with endpoints are A Yes ma’am.

and B. We could now denote by −, In
notation, we write it as AB or simply
AB. We can also name it as BA or
BA, which it is set consisting of YZ∨YZ
distinct points A and B.
ZY ∨ZY
Do you understand class?

If I change the letters A and B, to be Y

and Z. we can name now as? Yes
Kaye?

Very good!

Always remember that a line segment

is part of a line that has two endpoints.

In subsets of lines, we also have
Congruent segments. Where the two
segments are congruent if they have
the same measure.

Who know what is the symbol of

congruent?

Yes Zaskhiya, kindly draw and present

it to the class.

Exactly!

A B
C D
As you observe now for the figure, the
two segments (which are the lines) are
congruent because they have the same
measure and equal length.

We can read the illustration as AB ≅ CD,

AB is congruent ¿ CD , and according to
Zaskhiya, the symbol of a congruent is
≅.

How can we write now the figure

using the symbol of congruent? Yes ma’am. It is congruent because the
length of AB is equal ¿ thelength of CD , (AB
Yes Jillienne? = CD)

Very good!

How can we proved that Yes ma’am.

AB is congruent ¿ CD ?

Can we hear Mark Jervin?

Excellent!

Do you understand what is congruent

and its symbol class?

Let’s now proceed to ray.

Ray is part of a line but hthes only one
endpoint and extends endlessly in one
direction. For you to better understand The line segment has two endpoints while
Ray, we have the illustration of ray. ray has one endpoint and it uses arrow to
represent of the direction.

A B C
A is the endpoint of the ray ma’am.
What is the difference between line
segment and ray?

Exactly!
Yes ma’am.
What is the endpoint of the figure of
ray? Yes Joshua?

Very good!

Ray AB is the set of points consisting ⃗

AC
of ABand all points C such that B is
between A and C.

Understand class?

With that, A is called the endpoint of

the ray. The symbol together with its
points will be ⃗
AB is used to name ray
AB. We can also name it as ray AC. In
symbol, we write as? None ma’am.

Exactly! Where the points A, B, C are

on ray AC.

But remember that the figure is ray AB

or name it as ray AC. It is not correct
to name it as ray BA or ray CA. in
notation, we write ⃗
AB∨⃗ AC .

Any clarification and question class?

Our last topic for this lesson will be the

set operations involving line and its
subsets.

Since the lines, segments and rays are

all sets of points, we can perform set
operations on these sets.

Use the figure below to determine the

part of the line being described by the
union or intersection of two segments,
rays, or segment and ray:

A B C D E F Yes ma’am.

Example: DE ∪CF is the set of all

points on the ray DE and segment CF.
Thus, all these points determine ray

CD .

Another, BC ∩ ED is the set of all

points common to ray BC and ray ED .
The common points are the points on
the segment BE.

Understand class?

D. APPLICATION
class since you already know what
other basic geometric terms are on
points and lines, as well as the subsets
of lines and the set operations
involving line and its subsets. Here is (Answers may vary.)
your activity.
