OBJECTIVE

Identify corresponding parts of congruent

triangles.

Solve problems involving corresponding

parts of congruent triangles.
DEFINITION OF
CONGRUENT TRIANGLES Y

Two triangles are

Example Y

∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 ≅ ∆𝑋𝑌𝑍

If 𝐴𝐵 ↔ 𝑋𝑌
X Z

𝐵𝐶 ↔ 𝑌𝑍
𝐴𝐶 ↔ 𝑋𝑍 A C

All their corresponding sides are congruent.

Example Y

∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 ≅ ∆𝑋𝑌𝑍
B

If ∠𝐴 ↔ ∠X
X Z
∠𝐵 ↔ ∠Y
∠𝐶 ↔ ∠Z A C

Their corresponding angles are congruent.

Let’s Summarize!
In solving problems involving corresponding parts of two
congruent triangles, you must always remember that:
“When you have two congruent triangles that means the
corresponding sides and corresponding angles are
congruent. Thus, corresponding parts of congruent
triangles are congruent. And so, you have to locate the
corresponding parts that are congruent. Formulate an
equation if the given involves solving for any variable. Then
solve algebraically with the help of the properties of
equality you learned in the previous lesson.
Let’s Summarize!

Two triangles are congruent if and only if their

vertices and sides can be paired so that the
corresponding parts of the triangles are congruent.

they overlap each other to form as one. The order
of the vertices is very important
