Find Writers to Outsource Writing (Optional): To outsource guest post writing, use "Writers" tab - use "Where to Find Writers" column to find writers and keep track
your writers in one place. Add their contact info and rates.
Outreach to Writers (Optional): Use Writer Outreach Template to email writers and get cheap/free content in exchange for backlinks in your guest posts.
Write Guest Post Draft: Once topic/outline is approved, write and provide draft (and use Draft Example as formatting guide) via Google Docs (set sharing to "Anyon
link can edit")
Link to Your Site in Guest Post: Make sure to link to your website at least once in the copy, and in your guest author bio (example bio in Draft Example Template)
Link to Influencers and Future Targets in Guest Post: When writing draft, link to influencers and future sites to want to write for to provide value
Document Live Guest Post: Once draft is approved and article is published, add live article link to "Guest Post Outreach" tab
Document Links to Influencers and Targets: Also add the live article link and the influencer sites you linked to in the "Live Posts and Backlinks" tab
Optional: You can color code your rows in "Guest Post Outreach" tab by status: Live, Draft IP, Topic Pitched, etc. to help organize.
This will give you a list of broken outbound links. You can also use Ahrefs (paid) to analyze target site's content and look for broken links.
Round-Up Post Link Building: Search: “industry + round-up” for articles/websites to target for outreach
Find website owner's contact information with the same strategies in the guest post instructions above
Begin outreach with link building outreach emails from Outreach Templates document
If your link is added, make sure to say thank you and ask for any future content opportunities
Use a blog or company email address - try to avoid Gmail if you can
Do your research on the site you're targeting and focus on the benefits their audience will receive (focus less on you)
Keep track every contact in this workbook - the goal is long term relationships and opportunities
Some sites may not be accepting guest posts now, but will in the future - add that under the Notes column so you can follow-up
When pitching topics, make sure that your topic doesn't exist on their site (Google: "site:targetwebsite.com your topic" to see if it's on their blog already
Make sure to link to target sites and influencers you want to work with. Links are valuable so you can add the fact that you linked to them in future outreach.
When generating links to your site, it is important to have high quality content articles with statistics that you can link to.
When linking to your site, mix up your anchor text so that it's not always just your target keywords - use different variations and anchor text without your keyword at all.
When using the writers tab, keep track of all writers and cost per word. Test quality with one article. Find quality writer between $0.04 and $0.06 per word.
