COLLECTION - APRIL 3RD
An ecological village to cope
with climate change
Madagascar is among the
countries most vulnerable to climate change. Our
partner, the Development Council of Andohatapenaka
(CDA), operates in a part of the country that, being
lashed by heavy rains, is often flooded and insalubrious.
Amid these multiple vulnerabilities, CDA raises
awareness and mobilizes people to manage and
transform their neighbourhoods. Together, they
rehabilitated a contaminated area into a community
garden and implemented 51 climate change adaptation
microprojects in the capital region. Residents of one of
the area’s most vulnerable neighbourhoods were
also trained and equipped to turn their community into
an ecological village developed by and for residents.
Today, each of the village’s 50 households has a
vegetable garden, a stove and solar panels. This
transformation reflects a true ecological conversion.
REMINDER ABOUT MASS INTENTIONS &
SANCTUARY LAMP DATES BOOKED
Over the last year and a half, we have taken many
bookings for the lamp and mass intentions over the
phone due to limited or restricted office hours. If you
booked a date, you are reminded that the amount is to
be paid upon booking. If you haven’t submitted the
payment, please forward as soon as possible. It is easy
to forget on your end, and more difficult to follow up
on ours. Thanks for your follow up & attention to this.
 SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
This Sunday the focus is on Jesus
Christ transfigured in front of Peter,
James and John. It harkens back to
the covenant with Abraham. The
second reading reminds us that we
must get beyond our own bellies and
things of the earth to become copies
of Jesus, for whom we are waiting
and who will change our mortal bodies into copies of
his own glorious body.
PYX RETURN
Just a call out to anyone who has signed
out or picked up one of our pyx for
distribution of the Eucharist to the
homebound. Please if you are no longer using your
pyx, return it to the parish office asap. These are
expensive to replace and should be stored at the church
where they can be put to use as needed.
DIOCESAN SEPARATED & DIVORCED
HEALING MINISTRY SUPPORT GROUP
Every second and fourth Monday of the month from
7:00-9:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Spiritual Centre, 7020
Stanley Ave., Niagara Falls. Pre-registration is
required. Meetings will be held both in person at Mount
Carmel and virtually via Zoom platform. Next session

Washing of the Feet - How would you like
to lend your feet for the Holy Thursday foot
washing ceremony within the evening Mass
of the Lord’s Supper on April 14 at 6:30
p.m. Twelve individuals are needed: child, youth or
adult. (The water will be warm!)
EASTER FLOWERS
We enhance our worship by adorning our church with
glorious flowers that announce “Christ is risen!”
Envelopes for Easter Flowers and décor are available in
the pew racks or vestibule of the church and can be
returned in the collection basket. Donations may be
made in memory of a loved one and on Easter Sunday
these names will be placed in the bulletin.

RECONCILIATION

UKRAINE RELIEF FUND
If parishioners wish to make a financial contribution to
the Ukraine relief funds they may do so through the
parish. If you wish to donate, cheques should be made
payable to the parish clearly marked Ukraine relief .
The Chancery office will send all monetary donations
to the Catholic Near East Welfare Association
(CNEWA). Donations must be received by March 31st.
St. John the Theologian Ukranian Catholic Church, 91
Lakeshore Road, St. Catharines, is also collecting
essential supplies to send to Ukraine. A list of items
most requested can be found on their website along
with the item drop off information.

RESUMING ATTENDANCE AT MASS
As of April 9, Palm Sunday, all Catholics are obliged
to attend Mass on all Sundays and holy days of
obligation. The dispensation granted in March 2020 is
abrogated.
