YOUTH FOR ENVIRONMENT IN SCHOOL’S ORGANIZATION

SY 2019-2020
ECOLOGICAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM PROPOSAL

July 10, 2019


to Junior and Senior High School Students

INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE:

In the hopes of maintaining the cleanliness of our school, the Youth for Environment in
Schools Organization (YES-O) will have their Ecological Solid Waste Management Program that
aims to separate the trashes properly. The project will not only heighten the awareness of
students about the protection and conservation of the environment but will also improve their
discipline and obedience towards this matter. It shall enhance the students’ participation in
doing their share in protecting the environment, starting in the school. The program shall be
implemented and followed all throughout the school year.

OBJECTIVES:

The Ecological Solid Waste Management Program aims to heighten the awareness and
to increase the participation of the youth and their share in protecting the environment.

CONDITIONS:

This program shall be obeyed by the students with the following conditions:

-The students must throw their trashes on the trash cans provided on each floor.
-Segregation must be observed always and must be strictly followed by the students.
-Avoid littering or using unauthorized trash cans along the school’s premises.
-The trash cans must always be on their proper places, under the segregation tarpaulins.
-The trash cans provided are to be maintained by their assigned section.

Outside the classroom


Trash cans outside the classrooms must be located under tarpaulins posted in each floor
in accordance to the Ecological Solid Waste Management Program.

-Green labeled trash cans are for Residue.


-White labeled trash cans are for Biodegradables.
-Red labeled trash cans are Non-biodegradables.
-Blue Trash Cans located inside comfort rooms shall only be for trashes like napkins and
tissues.

Inside the Classroom


Each classroom must provide bin or box for Plastic Bottles, Plastic wrappers, White
Papers and Colored papers that should be placed properly inside the classroom.
GUIDELINES IN MAINTAINING THE TRASH CANS

NOTES:

- Monitoring of trash cans and evaluation of waste segregation will be done every day by the
YES-O officers and environmental police.

- Failure to maintain the neatness and orderliness of each set of trash cans for the first time
shall be resolved by calling the assigned section’s attention to give them a warning.

- Every Friday, students must bring any recyclable materials (bottles, papers, plastics etc.). As
for the pet bottles, it can be placed inside the white cages beside SHS building as a way of
disposal.

We are serving not only as stewards of the environment with segregation but also
helping ourselves to be able to practice discipline. No matter how old we are, our manners and
courteous acts should remain with us, regardless of time and place, whether there are trash
cans or none.
