Discuss what your ethical responsibilities are as a marriage and family therapist in your

state of residence about this case example

Marriage and family therapists assist people in coping with and resolving issues related to

their families and other relationships. My job as a marital and family therapist at my residence is

to observe Tommy's interactions with other residents (Pope & Vasquez., 2017

). I should assess and resolve Tommy's interpersonal issues. Tommy's transitional crisis, in

which he desires to avenge his mother's mistreatment by his father, should also be guided by me.

I should analyze Tommy's family situation and draw attention to the issues and behavioral

patterns that may have influenced Tommy to choose his father.

Honoring public trust

The MFT should uphold Tommy's family's public trust by adhering to the AAMFT's

ethical practice standards, which outline professional expectations (Negash & Sahin.,2019).

Seeking consultation

The absence of an explicit reference in the Code to a specific behavior or situation does

not imply that the behavior is ethical or unethical (Negash & Sahin.,2019). The requirements are

not exhaustive. In treating Tommy's case, MFTs seek advice from consultants, supervisors,

attorneys, colleagues, or any other appropriate person.

Ethical decision making

AAMFT Code of Ethics and applicable laws and regulations must be considered by the

FMT IN ADDRESSING Tommy’s family case (Negash & Sahin.,2019). Whether they are

higher than the mandatory law or not, the MFT must comply with them. In addition, Unethical

conduct should be reported.

Resolving complaints

In addressing Tommy's family case, the FMT must consider the AAMFT code of ethics,

as well as all applicable laws and regulations (Negash & Sahin.,2019). Whether they are more or

lower than what is needed by law, the MFT must follow them. Furthermore, unethical behavior

should be reported.
