Respected and beloved Rev Father Gigi P Abraham, Director MBCCET,
Respected Dr. Mannumood Jacob, Principal, St. Behanan’s Higher Secondary School, Vennikulam, Respected Ms. Nini, Principal Devalokam Mar Baselios Public School, Respected Mr Jaykumar, Chief Faculty STEM, Respected Prof Lijosh Mathew, Stem Coordinator, MBCCET, Respected Mrs. Vincy Varghese, Principal MDS Mallapally. Dear teachers, Parents and my dear students, Today we assembled in google meet for the inauguration of the STEM foundation course for the 8th, 9th and 10th class students. This course is organized to prepare the students to appear for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. Before venturing into that the students must select their future career. The selection of a career or profession is one of the most important things in life. But it is equally difficult. The lack of guiding services, proper counseling, and ever-increasing unemployment has further complicated the matter. There is cut-throat competition. Therefore, most of the young men and women in search of suitable jobs are a confused, indecisive, and frustrated lot. It has generated a deep sense of frustration and indiscipline among young people. A right choice of a career is of fundamental importance. On it, does depend one’s success or failure in life. A correct choice may lead to a happy, prosperous, and satisfying career and life. On the other hand, a wrong selection may result in failure, disappointment, and sadness in life. The result of prolonged indecision may still prove worse. A career path should be taken based on the passion, interest, and talent of the student in the field. The role of teacher and parent in identifying the passion, interest, and talent of the student is very important. If they can direct the students on the right path for a career, that leads to a happy and prosperous life. The factors to be considered for a good career are Passion, Stability, Future-prospects, and Satisfaction. Criteria to Choose a Career · Passion: The word passion sounds cliché, but it is an important criterion to consider before choosing a career path. If everyone follows their passion and chose a career accordingly, then the concept of a mid-career crisis wouldn’t have occurred in the first place. Every one of us would have dreamt of something during our childhood. We all wanted to become police, a cricketer, an actor, a doctor or an engineer. But not everyone follows and listens to the child in them. We ultimately give up on our passions and choose a safe career that will give us a good salary. · Stability: Financial stability, as well as job stability, is something that should be considered as an important criterion. Because the world is increasingly changing and many industries are being taken out by emerging technologies. So before choosing a particular career path, stability as well the salary factors should be considered. The maximum instability of the JOBs is in the computer sector, where technology is changing day by day. · Future-prospects: Future-prospects, both in terms of your interest in the field as well the survival of the field itself, in the next 20 years should be taken into consideration. A Mid-career crisis can be avoided if future prospects are evaluated properly. Certain industries might fall and certain might become the next biggest phenomenon. People who are serious about their careers choose a path that has a long-lasting prospect · Satisfaction: This is another important factor while choosing a career path. A good salary, a nice work environment, and a good location might give some people the job satisfaction they need, but some people are not affected by any of that. The only thing that matters to them is the job itself. Usually, a socially helpful job is the one that provides true satisfaction We consider Engineering and Medicine are the two professions that satisfy all the above if the passion, talent, and interest of the student is inclined in this direction. But the competition is very high. So those who understand the concepts of physics, chemistry and mathematics very well can only win the competition in engineering and those who understand the concepts of physics, chemistry and Biology can only win in Medicine. This is why extra coaching in fundamentals of science subjects is important. In entrance examinations like JEE and NEET, different concepts will be combined while making question papers. So those who can identify all the concepts used in the question paper can only solve the questions. So, practicing several questions of the kind of questions asked in JEE and NEET can only make the students ready for such exams. Initially, without the help of experts, solving such questions will be difficult. That is the reason why the majority of students who qualify for these exams had undergone special coaching. Now I wish all the students who joined this course may be able to understand all the concepts without much difficulty and be able to score very good marks in the competitive exams. Once again, wish you grand success in all of your examinations. I conclude. Thank you.
