• Teams must use IPG CarMaker 10.1 while designing the Vehicle for Virtual Dynamic
Events of BAJA SAEINDIA 2022.
Please refer pg. 5 of already released IPG CarMaker Guidelines of BAJA SAEINDIA
2022, for more details on the installation of IPG CarMaker 10.1 –

• The Virtual Dynamic Events shall not see an active participation, because the data
shall be collected from the teams before the event. But as the Virtual Dynamic Events
will be live-streamed, teams will get a unique opportunity to witness and enjoy the
event holistically.
• All teams must strictly note that the value of parameters defined in the IPG CarMaker
Vehicle Model should match with those specified into the submitted design spec sheet.
Deviations in any parametric values in IPG CarMaker corresponding to those in Design
Spec Sheet is NOT ALLOWED and any such deviations will be penalized, unless a
satisfactory technical justification is provided for the same, consideration of which shall
be at the sole liberty of the evaluating judges independent of BAJA SAEINDIA.
• Once the IPG CarMaker Vehicle Model & TestRun files are submitted, teams shall not
be allowed to change it and no requests from any team shall be entertained regarding
the same. Hence, teams are advised to thoroughly check all the requisite files prior to
submission to BAJA SAEINDIA.
• The Virtual Dynamic Events shall be conducted as follows:

• Teams shall submit their IPG CarMaker Vehicle Model to BAJA SAEINDIA
by 24th Nov-2021, 23:59 Hrs IST. (After this, the teams will not be
STEP 1 allowed to make any changes in their vehicle model)

• BAJA SAEINDIA shall release the Dynamic Event Tracks to the teams on
26th Nov-2021
STEP 2

• Teams shall be given 2 days time to test their vehicle model on the
shared tracks and finalize the Maneuver & IPG Driver model.
STEP 3

• Teams shall submit their Dynamic Event TestRun (which will have the
finalized Maneuver & IPG Driver model unique for each dynamic
STEP 4 event) to BAJA SAEINDIA by 28th Nov-2021, 23:59 Hrs IST

• BAJA SAEINDIA will live stream the Virtual Dynamic Events on the
respective event days as per pre-released slotting (by running the shared
STEP 5 vehicle model as per the given maneuver & IPG Driver model)

Model submission

A] IPG CarMaker Vehicle Model Submission:

1. Rename the final Project Folder as ‘Car No._Team Name’.

2. Open the Vehicle Data Set in IPG Carmaker and add the ‘Road Sensor’ with details
exactly as per the figure below:
3. Rename/Save the Vehicle Data Set as ‘Car No._Team Name’.

4. After the above steps, select and review the Project Folder & the vehicle model for
final submission.
5. Ensure that the Object file (OBJ / DAE / MOBJ / 3DS / KMZ format) & the vehicle
images / all the graphics files of the vehicle are present in the ‘Movie’ folder, which
in turn should be present in the main project folder.

6. Teams have to keep only those Files and Folders in the Project Folder Car No._Team
Name, which have been listed below for final submission of Vehicle Model.]

 7. Ensure that .tmp, .tmp_preview, 0 File, 1 File files are NOT present in ‘Data > Vehicle
Folder’ while submission
8. After completing all the above steps, keep only the Folders listed above in the main
Project Folder namely - ‘Car No._Team Name’. Create a .zip archive file of the
Project Folder and upload it in the respective mBAJA or eBAJA Google Form before
the deadline, which is 24th Nov-2021, 23:59 Hrs IST

B] IPG CarMaker Test Run (IPG Driver & Maneuver) Submission:

1. After releasing the final Virtual Dynamic Event Tracks, teams shall be given 2 days
for rigorously testing their vehicle as many times on each track and finalizing their
Maneuver & subsequent IPG Driver Model, different for each Virtual Dynamic Event
track. With a proficient Training Session provided to Teams, the Tracks for BAJA
SAEINDIA 2022 Virtual Dynamic Events will be competitive and challenging.
2. Create a Folder Car No._TeamName_TestRun in the ‘Project Folder > Data >
TestRun’ Folder.
3. Before working upon and finalizing the Maneuver & IPG Driver, Open Error Handling
and change the value of General Error and Initialisation as shown in figure below.
4. Once the Maneuver & IPG Driver is finalized for a particular Dynamic Event, Save and
name the TestRun file as ‘Car No._Team Name_Dynamic Event Name’. Ensure
that the TestRun files are saved in ‘Project Folder > Data > TestRun >
CarNo._TeamName_TestRun’ Folder.

5. After saving and naming the TestRun file, open and load the file to review whether
the Maneuver & IPG Driver Model is correct for final submission.
6. Browse the TestRun folder in the Project Folder, select the Car No._Team
Name_TestRun Folder and submit it. (**Please Note that the submission link for
TestRun folder shall be released alongwith the final Virtual Dynamic Event Tracks)

 IPG CarMaker TEST TRACK RELEASE FOR VEHICLE TESTING
BAJA SAEINDIA is hereby releasing the IPG CarMaker test track to the teams, to be ready
for the Virtual Dynamic Events of the 2022 season.

1. Copy & Paste the Test Track file to the destination shown in figure below.

2. Copy & Paste the Movie folder to the destination shown in figure below. (Do not
replace the already existing Movie folder or any of its contents, only paste the new
contents. In Windows 10, when pasted, the new Movie folder automatically merges
with the existing one. Care to be taken when pasting the same in other Windows
versions or other OS.)
 3. Open Scenario Editor, and Load the Test Track Road file.

4. Open Error Handling and change the value of General Error and Initialisation as shown
in figure below.

Once all the above steps are completed, try different iterations of Maneuver & IPG Driver, for
the vehicle to complete the full track run successfully and improve the time required for the
same. Teams might face issues regarding unsuccessful completion of track and subsequent
errors, which can be resolved by trial & error on Maneuver & IPG Driver model as stated
above.
