1 DEFINICION DE LA TEMATICA DE ANALISIS

Industrial Metalworking Processes:

Treatment of industrial wastewater contaminated with recalcitrant metal

working fluids by the photo-Fenton process as post-treatment for DAF

Metalworking fluids (MWFs) are generally used in manufacturing industries (e.g., tooling
industry). These fluids are deliberately added to applied water in metal machining
operations to cool and lubricate or inhibit rusting of contact place between machining tools
and working fragment. It also has other benefits, such as the removal of small metal
scraps by washing, tool protection against corrosion, tool life improvement, friction
diminution in fragment and tool interface, and altogether the final quality development of
products. Despite these advantages, MWFs is known as the main source of oily
wastewater in the metal industries sector with high chemical oxygen demand (COD),
approximately 10,000–100,000 mg/l. MWF formulations are chemically complex and
composed of base mineral oil, emulsifiers and surfactants, extreme pressure and anti-weld
agents, corrosion inhibitors, biocides (phenolic and aliphatic derivatives), foam inhibitors,
friction reduction agents, and alkaline reserve compounds. Owing to the presence of all
these compounds and microbial agents (bacteria and fungi), which have proven toxic
effects, MWFs are non-biodegradable and hazardous and are associated with diseases
such as cancer, skin disease, respiratory disease, and other diseases. It is estimated that
more than 2,000,000 m3 MWF are annually used worldwide and that wastewater volume
by dilution of MWFs prior to use could be ten times higher. Because of the complicated
chemical contents as trade secrets for MWFs producers, the disposal of related
wastewater is progressively difficult. Further, since the MWFs are categorized as
hazardous wastes along with relative toxicity to aquatic organisms, disposal options for
this oily waste is expensive.
For the disposal of used MWFs, conventional physical and chemical techniques or
minimization approaches are typically used, and generally have single or multiple stages,
depending on the stage of treatment needed. In the multiple stage systems, solids and oil
phase during the elementary phase is removed, and then the volume and COD loading are
reduced by the secondary stage. Finally, for compliance with severe discharge limits, post-
treatment is usually appropriate to develop the effluent quality. (Web of science 2016)
2 IDENTIFICACION DE TENDENCIAS

In this area there are many challenges as the technological characteristics of the
metalworking sector Maintain in our country for most of the uses.
Best practices at the global level are related to high speed machining and
Machining of five axes, the gradual elimination of purely mechanical processes, the
Labor-intensive processes, the use of new Special alloys, the reengineering of
production processes, the implementation of
Quality standards and the implementation of process simulation programs. (CCB,
2006)
Companies in the sector in Colombia are not at the forefront with these best
practices at despite the fact that today there is greater specialization of machinery
especially in electronics and the automation. The acquired technologies
concentrate on buying and updating,
Software for the development of production and administrative processes and
there is a Absence of technological modernization programs. This results in the Of
companies in the metal-mechanical sector is to have a very
Below the ideal.
In order to achieve greater competitiveness in an increasingly globalized scenario,
the study Of characterization raises the need for the development of new materials,
better processes and Adequate use of new technologies in the sector, including
everything related to welding, Of major technological advances at international
level.

Industrial Metalworking Processes:

1. Synergistic combinations of organic acid useful for controlling

microoganisms in industrial processes.

The invention relates to synergistic combinations of antimicrobials and methods of their

use for the control of microorganisms in industrial processes, materials, or products.
For the purposes of this specification, the meaning of “microorganisms” and “microbes”
includes, but is not limited to, bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoans, and viruses. Preferred
microbes against which the compositions of the invention are effective are bacteria.
Examples of undesirable bacteria include, but are not limited to, lactic acid producing
bacteria, acetic acid producing bacteria, and other bacteria which contaminate ethanol
fermentation processes. It is also understood that the microbes within aqueous systems
can be located suspended within the fluid (eg, planktonic) or localized on a surface in
contact with the aqueous system (eg, biofilms). The words and phrases “control”,
“microbial control”, “controlling”, and “antimicrobial efficacy” should be construed to include
within their meaning, without being limited to, inhibiting the growth of microbes, killing
microbes, disinfection, preservation, sanitization, or preventing the re-growth of microbes.

As used herein ppm is measured as mass per volume or 1 ppm equals 1 mg (active) per
liter.

As used herein the term “organic acid” is also referring to its salt.

2. Process for producing a hydrocarbon component
The invention relates to a process for producing a new type of high-quality hydrocarbon
base oil of biological origin. The process of the invention comprises ketonization,
hydrodeoxygenation, and isomerization steps. Fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters based
on a biological raw material are preferably used as the feedstock.

STATE OF THE ART

Base oils are commonly used for the production of lubricants, such as lubricating oils for
automotives, industrial lubricants and lubricating greases. They are also used as process
oils, white oils and metal working oils. Finished lubricants consist of two general
components, lubricating base oil and additives. Lubricating base oil is the major
constituent in these finished lubricants and contributes significantly to the properties of the
finished lubricant. In general, a few lubricating base oils are used to manufacture a wide
variety of finished lubricants by varying the mixtures of individual lubricating base oils and
individual additives.
Base oils according to the classification of the American Petroleum institute (API) Group III
or IV are used in high-quality lubricants, API base oil classification.

5 PRINCIPALES TEMÁTICAS A ANALIZAR EN EL FUTURO

JAN ANDERSSON: There are clear trends that the economy is moving in the right
direction. Some industries, such as aerospace and energy, are moving faster, but
automotive is moving in the right direction, as well. That bodes well for tooling and
workholding.

JACK BURLEY: The growth of Industry 4.0, or the Internet of Things (IoT), is a
key trend and will have a profound influence on tooling and workholding as it
relates to the flow of information to machine tools and engineers/operators.
Sensors are becoming smaller and easier to install in all kinds of products—not just
cars and appliances. Smart tooling and workholding will provide real-time feedback
about problems such as vibration back to the machine control and send alerts to an
engineer that adjustments need to be made. Smart factories will require all
equipment and tooling to be Industry 4.0 capable.

BRENDT HOLDEN: Continued globalization will help manufacturing grow. Also,

increases in global population and wealth will allow for more things to be
manufactured and ultimately needed and purchased. The metalworking industry
will grow and profit from these trends, but the key question will be which
manufacturing companies will grow and profit? The companies that have prepared
themselves and have adopted highly productive machining practices will benefit
the most over the next five years, regardless of the parts of the world in which they
manufacture their products or do business.
BILL OBRAS: In general terms, the industry will experience two key trends during
the next five years—an acute need for skilled/trained labor and increased global
competitiveness in terms of pricing. In turn, these trends will continue to drive the
industry towards more machining automation, including such tasks as tool
assembly and setup, tool life monitoring, automatic cutting parameter adjustments,
in-process part inspection and real-time part-to-part corrections. With that said,
there will also be further implementation of sensors and smart chip technologies
that provide even more cutting and performance data and insight, thus allowing
manufacturers to build valuable databases that can help optimize machining
processes. The industry will also realize huge benefits through investment in
automation as well as on the redistribution of human resources from the traditional
machine operator to skilled programmers, cell designers, robotic experts and
database management personnel. Such investments will help reduce part costs,
improve yield rates and boost dimensional part consistency.
