3 Running Head: REPORT

Introduction

As more studies are being conducted relating to the psychology field than in the past. There are still

increasing cases of stress in college students at universities. It has also increased more during this

decade with the rise of social media. Especially during the time of the pandemic (Heffer, 2017).

University students usually face stressful situations due to their studies, field selection, degree etc.

Many researchers have pointed out mental health problems in young adults at the time of their

university years (Saleh, 2017).

Research problem

Which stressors are most common among college students, and what is the best method to support

these stressors based on college students' responses, and what coping mechanisms have proven to

be effective/ineffective?

Justification for the problem

Mental health issues are growing among students. It should be noted that in most cases, students are

reported to have been feeling depressed and anxious and having suicidal thoughts too. This poor

psychological well-being is sometimes associated with physical disorders (Freire, 2020). It could

also be associated with the broader concept of stress that involves all aspects of life’s difficulties,

including psychological discomfort. Little research is currently been conducted on the

psychological health of college students. Ongoing research has mainly been carried out as part of

students' health insurance surveys (Morales Rodriguez, 2019). The main purpose of this study is to

determine the role of some factors like age, gender, self-esteem, psychological distress. Anxiety,

severe depression, insomnia, self-efficacy, etc, linking to the presence of perceived stress in

students, after evaluating different aspects of mental health in college students. This s could help

better understand and evaluate the psychological state of college students (Karyotaki, 2020).

may not have been recognized previously (Freire, 2020).

Related discussion to audiences

When it comes to students' overall health and well-being, stress can be a major impediment.

Without the most effective coping techniques, this can have a significant influence on the student at

a critical juncture in their lives. • Stress is a very regular and common occurrence in college (Saleh,

2017).
