3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-35-27-861-050-A
A. Energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001) .

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002) .
(2) On the water service panel, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize
the potable water system.

C. At the related galley, on the galley control panel:
(1) Open, safety and tag the circuit breaker(s) of the water boiler/heater.
4. Procedure

Subtask 25-35-27-020-050-O
A. Removal of the Water Heater
(Ref. Fig. Water Boiler/Heater SHEET 1)

WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT


SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAM-
AGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Prevent damage to the component interface and the adjacent area.
(2) Remove the screws (1) and the ice drawer (2).
(3) Remove the screws (6).
(4) Carefully pull the water heater (3) out of the galley and hold it in position.
(5) Disconnect the electrical connector (4).
(6) Disconnect the water supply line:

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED. A


PRESSURIZED SYSTEM CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS WHEN THEY DO
WORK ON IT.

(a) Disconnect the water supply line (5).


(b) Put blanking plugs in the disconnected line ends.
(7) Remove the water heater (3) from the galley.
(8) Put blanking caps on all the disconnected electrical connector(s) and receptacle(s).

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS
WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).

WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT


SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAM-
AGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Open the flap (3) and push the locking mechanism (4) to the unlocked position.
(2) Remove the water heater from the galley:

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED. A


PRESSURIZED SYSTEM CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS WHEN THEY DO
WORK ON IT.

WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE WASTE WATER SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER
SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME.
THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM.
SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.

WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:


- ON THE WASTE WATER SYSTEM, OR
- ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE WATER SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH
SOAP AND WATER.
THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (WASTE WATER IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).

(a) Carefully pull the water heater (2) to disconnect the electrical connector, the potable-water supply
line and the drain line.
(b) Remove the water heater (2) from the galley.
(c) Put a PLUG - BLANKING in the disconnected line ends.
(d) Put a CAP - BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector.
