Improving the bike lanes on Kent Avenue attracts both recreational and commuting cyclists.

Its flat elevation means it would be easy for beginner cyclists to maneuver. Plans to build a
protected bikelane would also make the bikelane less intimidating as cyclists will feel protected from
larger vehicles. Especially with the redirection of main traffic to Marine Drive, cyclists will have half
of the road for their exclusive use.

Furthermore its location next to Fraser River provides beautiful views and quick access to
river paths in Fraserland districts as incentive to recreational cyclists. There are also multiple parks
situated along the bikelane which could be key destinations for these cyclists.

For bike commuters, the new bike trail provides connection to the Canada Line Station
serving as a regional connection to places such as UBC, eastward to Burnaby and on to New
Westminster, and connections to all of Vancouver/Richmond bridges. This easy access provides the
means for commuters with further workplaces to switch to biking.

Especially with development underway at East Fraserland neighbourhoods, located near

Kent St, it is expected the number of bike lane users will increase in the near future.

Another main advantage of this bike path is its minimum impact on public transportation
such as Translink buses. Bus commuters will not be affected through this development ensuring that
commuters are not likely to switch to personal vehicles due to inconvenience.

Noise Levels and congestion along Kent Avenue are also expected to decrease substantially
benefiting residents around it. More people are expected to use bicycles, traffic will also be
redirected towards Marine Drive, and already busy street.

Lastly, because of the already existing bike lands, not a lot of investment is required in this
project. Our goal is simply to link up these bike lanes and improve safety down this trail.

Furthermore, as the bike is located near a train station, there are remnants of abandoned
rails on the road. It is much more economical to
