Assistant Principal I was Ms. Beck’s principal for three years, and in that time, I was able to get
to know Ms. Beck very well. In fact, I had the pleasure of being the one who
hired Ms. Beck to work at Johnston Elementary. She is the kind of teacher who
fosters an environment in which you never want to leave. Her students linger on
her every word and are so authentically engaged that they do not even realize
they are learning. Additionally, Ms. Beck took on other opportunities within our
school outside of the classroom like working as our assistant coordinator for our
after-school program. She was also selected as a feature teacher in our district
newspaper due to her excellence in the classroom as an instructor and her
excellence in building relationships with her students.

Ms. Beck is natural leader, in that, she has a keen ability to bring people
together for the common good of teaching and learning. She is such a caring and
kind individual and she exudes this to those she meets. She is a highly respected
teacher who builds meaningful relationships with both her students and their
families. In the many interactions I have with the parents at our school, when
they talk about Alaina Beck being their child’s previous teacher, it is spoken with
love and admiration. They know that she helped lay a solid foundation for their
child’s educational career.
