CHAPTER 3 REGION 2 ( NUEVA VIZCAYA)

INTRODUCTION- ERIKA SERRA

Kablaaw! Welcome to Nueva Vizcaya. We'll take you on a virtual tour; if you're excited, let's get started!
Okay, so first here are some quick facts about NUEVA VIZCAYA. Nueva Vizcaya, is located in the
Cagayan Valley region in Luzon. Its capital is Bayombong. Nueva Vizcaya is a province with rich soil
used to plant rice, corn, fruits, and vegetables and is often referred to as lowland Baguio because of its
pleasant climate.

HISTORICAL, CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS (FACUNDO)

People's Museum and Library

People’s Museum and Library can be found in Bayombong, standing beside the Saint Dominic Cathedral.
This province’s culture and heritage are as colorful as its intricately woven textiles. The museum is
compact but it provides a plethora of information – a great way for the province to introduce itself to the
rest of the world.

St. Vincent Ferrer Church

The St. Vicent Ferrer Church is an 18th-century Baroque church located at Brgy. Dopaj, Dupax del Sur,
Nueva Vizcaya. The church has all the requisites of an Old Spanish brick church like wooden altar,
columns and lattices and a museum which houses centuries old church artifacts St. Dominic Cathedral .

The Saint Dominic Cathedral

located at Brgy. Salvacion, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. This cathedral was still called The Church of St.
Augustine. It won’t be until a few months later, on September 8th, that it will be dedicated to St. Dominic
De Guzman.

Natural Attractions (AICA)

Mt. Pulag

Mt. Pulag is one of the most famous mountains in the Philippines, standing proudly at 2926 masl.
Located in Bokod, Benguet. It has one of the richest biodiversity in the country, having vast forests full of
pines, moss, and grass. It is a mountain worth climbing, both for its challenging trails and its natural
beauty.

Mt. Ugu

Mt. Ugo is located in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya-Itogon, Bengue. Mt. Ugu has a lower elevation.
Nevertheless, the mountain is at par with its neighbors when it comes to showcasing the beauty of nature.
It boasts of enchanting forests that is home to tall pine trees and it also offers equally breath-taking views.

Capisaan cave system


Capisaan Cave System is the fifth longest cave in the country at 4.2 kilometers located in Barangay
Capisaan, Kasibu. It has layers of cave network including Lion and Alayan Caves with rare calcite
formations and a subterranean river which doubles as a passageway to the best part of the cave.

Festival and Special Events (DIMASUHID)

Panagyaman Festival

The Panagyaman Rice Festival was the principal national festival devoted to the triumphs of little
agriculturists who have been the spine in the crusade for a Hungry-Free Philippines.

Grand Ammungan Festival

One of the most colorful and culturally diverse, yet unheralded provinces in the country is Nueva
Vizcaya. Ammungan is the Gaddang word for ―gathering,‖ while its Ilocano counterpart is ummungan,
which also has the same meaning and is widely understood among the ethno-linguistic groups.

Food and Delicacies (CABASAG)

Abal-abal

Abal-abal – a kind of brown, burrowing June beetle or June bug. Many people eat it. Abal-abal. May
beetles, locally known as ―abal-abal‖ come out from the soil in May after the early rains have softened the
ground.

Dinengdeng

Dinengdeng is a dish of the Ilocano people of the Philippines, similar to pinakbet. It is classified as a
bagoong monamon soup based dish. Unlike pinakbet, dinengdeng contains fewer vegetables and contains
squash and more bagoong monamon soup base.

Palitaw

Palitaw sa Latik is a type of glutinous rice cake cooked in sweetened coconut milk then topped with
toasted coconut milk curds.

CHAPTER 4 REGION 3 (BATAAN)

INTRODUCTION- MJAY

Mabuhay Pilipinas ! Welcome to Bataan. For todays tour we’ll gonna show you how the province of
Bataan is amazing and abundant place. Just sit , relax and fasten your seatbelt as we bring you to the
special place in the Philippines ! Bataan is a province in Philippines located in Central Luzon Region and
its capital is Balanga. Holding many interesting tourist spots. The province has plenty of historical
landmarks to visit including monuments, markers, old houses, shrines and old churches since it played an
important role in the history of the country (Battle of Bataan).
Major Attraction ( CABASAG )

Corregidor Island - Corregidor Island, rocky island, strategically located at the entrance of Manila Bay,
just south of Bataan province, Luzon, Philippines. It is a national shrine commemorating the battle fought
there by U.S. and Filipino forces during World War II.

Town of Pilar - Pilar, or the Municipality of Pilar, is a third-class municipality in the Philippines'
province of Bataan. It has a population of 46,239 people, according to the 2020 census.

Historical, Culture and Heritage Attraction .(FACUNDO)

Bataan Provincial Capitol – The government office in Balanga, Bataan.

La Casas Filipinas De Acusar - Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is a heritage park in the province of
Bataan. It is a project of the New San Jose Builders, owned by art collector Architect Jose Rizalino
―Jerry‖ Acuzar, which is aimed to showcase cultural heritage.

Shrine of Valor- The Mount Samat National Shrine or Shrine of Valor is a historical shrine located near
the summit of Mount Samat in the town of Pilar, Province of Bataan, Philippines. The memorial shrine
complex was built to honor and remember the gallantry of Filipino and American soldiers who fought
during World War II.

Natural Attractions (ALQUIZA)

Anvaya Cave Beach and Nature Club - Anvaya is quite large. It consists of multiple rentable cabins,
pools, and restaurants.

Talaya Beach - Talaga Beach is a seaside resort in Bataan. Talaga Beach is situated nearby to Natsu
Lagoon. Talaga Beach from Mapcarta, the open map.

Balon Aristo- Balon-Anito is a barangay in the municipality of Mariveles, in the province of Bataan. Its
population as determined by the 2020 Census was 15,820.

Baras Bakal - Baras Bakal Angat, Bataan A stone cave which was the first choice of the Katipuneros as
a hideout before they finally selected Biak-na-Bato.

Festival and Special events( Kim )

Pawikan Festival (Nov. 29-30) - The Pawikan Festival is an annual celebration of the endangered
'pawikan' or sea turtles. It's usually held at the end of November up to the beginning of December in
Morong, Bataan, but the festival itself garners the attention of the whole of Bataan.

Galunggong Festival (April 14-15) . – A festival that celebrated 14th -15th april. This festival serves as
thanksgiving and also as a way to inform the new generation of the importance of the fishing sector of the
economy.

FOODS and DELICACIES (SERRA)


Chicken Valdostana - The valdostana, composed of pan-seared chicken fillet topped with smoked ham,
melted mozzarella cheese, spinach, and potato pancake on the other hand has a much subtler flavor. It
comes with cream sauce and rice.

Pako salad - The Pako Salad Recipe (Paco) is one of the fern vegetables that Filipinos love to eat. This
vegetable which has the scientific name of Athyrium Esculentum is usually eaten as a Salad like Filipino
Fruit Salad or as a side dish to a main viand .

Ginataang Kahol - Ginataang kuhol is a Filipino snail stew made from apple snails in coconut milk with
leafy vegetables, onion, garlic, ginger, siling haba chilis, bagoong alamang, and salt and pepper. Labuyo
chilis are also commonly added for a spicier vversion.

Gabi Ice cream - Bataan's Famous Geno's Ice Cream are made fresh with no preservatives and comes in
flavors such as Gabi, Ube, Buko Pandan, Cheese, and more!

CHAPTER 5 REGION 4A (BATANGAS)

INTRODUCTION- FACUNDO

I’d like to welcome you all on a virtual tour to Batangas. And I’ll tell you all about the things you will
see. So let’s begin! The province of Batangas is located in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.
Batangas is one of the most popular holiday destinations for domestic travelers mainly because of its
proximity to Manila, the Philippines' capital. The province is such a great holiday destination because it
offers a wide range of experiences and attractions.

MAJOR ATTRACTION -(FACUNDO)

TAAL VOLCANO –Taal Volcano is the smallest active volcano in the world. Its unexplained shape and
location on an island within a lake within an island, makes it a unique geologic wonder, enthralling
thousands of tourists and geologists yearly.

HISTORICAL ATTRACTION (CABASAG)

TAAL HERITAGE VILLAGE

The most interesting part of going around Taal town proper is having to see the heritage houses that allow
people to travel back in time as their unique exquisiteness from the olden days was preserved for the
present generation to catch a glimpse of.

MABINI SHRINE

It is noted for being the residence of Filipino military leader Apolinario Mabini who figured in the
Philippine Revolution. Originally situated along the Nagtahan River, the strucure was moved to the
Polytechnic University of the Philippines main campus in Santa Mesa, Manila in the mid-2000s.
GEN. MALVAR MUSEUM

The museum is small and simple — it only has three rooms — but is packed with so much details about
the life of the hero and the history of the country, especially of Batangas.

NATURAL ATTRACTION (DIMASUHID)

CALATAGAN MANGROVE FOREST

Calatagan Mangrove Forest Conservation Park, locally known as, ―Ang Pulo‖, is a marine protected area
(MPA) located at Brgy. Kilitisan, Calatagan, Batangas in Verde Island Passage, Philippines. Ang Pulo
offers mangrove study tour , snorkeling, kayaking, gleaning activities and environmental education.

TAAL LAKE AND VOLCANO

Taal Lake, formerly known as Bombón Lake, is a freshwater caldera lake in the province of Batangas, on
the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The lake fills Taal Volcano, a large volcanic caldera formed by
very large eruptions between 500,000 and 100,000 years ago.

VERDE ISLAND PASSAGE

The Verde Island Passage is a strait that separates the islands of Luzon and Mindoro, connecting the
South China Sea with the Tayabas Bay and the Sibuyan Sea beyond. It is one of the busiest sea lanes in
the Philippines because it is the main shipping route between the Port of Manila and the Visayas and
Mindanao in the south.

FESTIVALS AND SPECIAL EVENTS (ALQUIZA)

SUBLIAN FESTIVAL

The Sublian Festival is a two-week celebration in Batangas that culminates on July 23rd of every year. Its
roots stem from the Batangueños' devotion to their town patrons: the Holy Cross (Bauan / Agoncillo) and
Sto. Niño (Batangas City).

PARADA NG LECHON

The Lechon Festival is a religious and cultural festival in Balayan, Batangas, Philippines held every June
24. The festival is celebrated in honor of St. John the Baptist. Numerous activities are performed such as
lechon parade, and water dousing.

KABAKAHAN FESTIVAL – Kabakahan Festival is a celebration of the founding anniversary of Padre


Garcia, Batangas, the town known as the Cattle Trading Capital of the Philippines. The Kabakahan
Festival is held every December 1st of every year. And one of the highlights of this annual event is the
Rodeo Ala Garciano, an event that draws tourists and competitors from different parts of the country.

LAMBAYOK FESTIVAL
Lambayok Festival celebrates the founding anniversary of the municipality of San Juan held every
December 12 of every year. It also pays homage to the three growing industries in the area: lambanog
(coconut wine), palayok (clay pot) and karagatan (ocean).

BALSA FESTIVAL

Balsa festival is most prominent in matabungkay, batangas which has been a visitor goal since the 1960s.
It is held every May 8 of every year. With its striking dusk and two-kilometer stretch of velvety fine sand.

LOMI FESTIVAL

Lomi is a soup dish composed of thick egg noodles, chicken, liver, and vegetables.The famous noodle
dish takes the spotlight every 23rd of September. The City of Lipa organizes three competitions.

TINAPAYAN FESTIVAL

Tinapayan Festival is annually celebrated by the people of Cuenca, Batangas, every February 1-13.
During the festival, the largest and longest bread with different figures and shapes is presented in the
procession along the main road of their town. The parade showcases the creativity and talent of Cuencano
bakers.

FOOD AND DELICACIES (SERRA)

BULALO

This Bulalo Recipe, also known as beef bone marrow soup, is a native dish originated from Batangas,
where you can find many versions of Bulalo. It is considered as one of the most favorite dish in the
Philippines and a perfect soup dish for the cold weather and rainy days.

KALDERETA

Kalderetang Batangas is a type of Kaldereta a Filipino Style Beef Stew where beef is usually simmered
in tomato sauce, this type of kaldereta does not but instead it is cooked in a normal beef stock with liver
spread, cheese, peanut butter and pickle relish.

GOTO

Gotong Batangas is a goto version of the province of Batangas. This is said to have originated in city of
Lipa, which is known for having scores of famous restaurants specializing in different local dishes. Goto
usually refers to rice porridge in Filipino. This is composed of innards.

TAPANG TAAL

Tapang Taal is a Filipino recipe prepared with pork marinated in soy sauce, calamansi and tons of garlic
then pan fried. The most famous produce in Taal and its surroundings is Beef, tapa as we know is
prepared with beef but this dish offers something different which makes me intrigued on how it
originated.
KAPENG BARAKO

Kapeng barako, also known as Barako coffee or Batangas coffee, is a coffee varietal grown in the
Philippines, particularly in the provinces of Batangas and Cavite. It belongs to the species Coffea liberica.
The term is also used to refer to all coffee coming from those provinces.

CHAPTER 6 : REGION 4 ORIENTAL MINDORO

INTRODUCTION – (DIMASUHID)

for guests and visitors of all ages. A perfect fusion of rustic beauty, infinite biodiversity, colorful culture
and tradition, and vibrant economy Oriental Mindoro!! Oriental Mindoro Known as the Pearl of Mindoro,
it is world-famous for splendid beaches, coral reefs, and exquisite dive sites. There are shallow coral
gardens, interesting rock formations, and colorful species to watch, like crabs, shrimps, sea anemones,
moray, and trumpet fishes.

Major Attractions ( Dimasuhid)

Buyayao Island is the largest and the most beautiful island in Oriental Mindoro. It is has a long stretch of
white sand beach and pristine waters. It is a rocky island with tropical jungle, abundant in wildlife and
marine.

The Bancuro Church Ruins, or locally known as Simbahang Bato, is a Roman Catholic church located
in Barangay Bancuro, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. It earned the moniker "a church within a
church" because a small chapel is currently housed within the ruins' massive walls

Historical, Culture and Heritage Attractions (Cabasag)

Mangyan Hanunuo Tribe Settlement

The island of Mindoro is also home to the indigenous people of Mangyan. There are eight tribes scattered
around the island, from Oriental to Occidental Mindoro. Hanunuo means ―genuine‖ or ―true‖. Panaytayan
Mangyan Settlement in at Manansalay you can take a glimpseon the life and culture of the Hinunuo
Mangyans.

Kuta Shrine

The Ruins of Kuta Church in Anilao, Bongabong are the remnants of an 18th Century church. At that
time, it is a place of worship and a walled fortress against Moro invaders. The church is believed to have
been burned down and abandoned due to the Moro's constant attacks between the year 1753 and 1754. On
the 25 June 2012, the site was declared by the National Historical Commission as a National Historical
Landmark, the first ever in Oriental Mindoro.

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS (Facundo)


Puerto Galeria beaches

Is a town on the Philippine island of Mindoro. It’s known for its dive sites and beaches. The long curve
of White Beach is backed by bars and resorts. Inland, a forest trail leads to secluded Talipanan Falls, and
a hillside 9-hole golf course sits above the coast. Northeast, the waters

Tamaraw Falls is one of Puerto Galera's most popular attractions. This majestic natural wonder has a
height of 423ft (128.3m) which can be compared to a tall building. It has a unique Y-shape due to its twin
falls merging together.

Mount Halcon

Is the highest mountain in the island of Mindoro in the Philippines, with an elevation of 2,586 metres
above sea level. It is the 18th-highest peak in the Philippines and 37th-highest peak of an island on Earth.

Festival and Special Events (Ekang)

MIMAROPA Festival

Was held in Calapan City on November 9-15. It coincided with the 65th founding anniversary of both
Occidental and Oriental Mindoro. The festival highlighted the region's best products through agri-trade
and tourism fair.

Bahaghari Festival

Is a colorful commemoration of the importance of the rainbow in the history of Pinamalayan. The
celebration includes a street dancing competition, cultural presentations, religious and cultural activities,
and products and trade fair. Like the rainbow which rises to give color in the sky after torrent of rain, the
festival is a reflection of the people's efforts to ensure paradise awaits at the end of every storm.

Malasimbo Music and Arts festival

Serves as a venue for the indigenous people of Mindoro to showcase their culture and art. Above the idea
of fun and partying, the festival is and will always be a celebration of and for the Mangyans. The
Malasimbo music and arts festival is one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines. One of the core goals
of the festival is to promote environmental conservation and protection.

Banana Festival

Banana Festival, held each March 18 to 19 in Baco, Oriental Mindoro, is a festival of the wealth of
bananas. It features the distinctive assortments of banana like the Senorita, the Latundan, the Lacatan and
the Saba.

Food Delicacies (Aica)

Suman sa Lihiya

Suman sa lihiya is a traditional Filipino rice cake that is usually made from glutinous rice (locally referred
to as ―malagkit‖). Aside from using glutinous rice, some variations also use root crops such as cassava.
Adobong Pugita is made with a mature octopus that is cooked in soy and vinegar sauce. If cooked
perfectly, the dish yields a very flavorful and succulent octopus that is well-matched with steamed rice. It
is usually served as a main entree for lunch or dinner or as an accompaniment to beer in the Philippines

Daing or semi dried fish

These fish were butterflied and dried in the sun for about a day. They’re very crisp and taste delicious
dipped in vinegar and paired with steamed white rice.

Banana chips

Banana chips in Mindoro are deep-fried or dried, generally crispy slices of bananas. They are usually
made from firmer, starchier banana varieties like the Saba and Nendran cultivars. They can be sweet or
savory, and can be covered with sugar, honey, salt, or various spices
