1. What is the artist trying to express? 

 Through the picture, I feel the artist is attempting to convey envy and jealousy. The man in the
rear is handing the wife a bunch of red flowers. That, I don't think, is a coincidence. Red is the
color of love, and because they are both red, they are both in love. The figure in the front
appears to be lonely, which conveys bitterness and pain, therefore I assumed that the artist is
attempting to depict envy.

2. What do I feel about the painting? 

 
The picture has a gloomy aura, sadness and pain which made me assume that the ending would
be unpleasant as well, which made me think of envy and jealousy.
