Introduction
*************
As in any Harvest Moon game, social interactions are a key to success. Romance
is an integral part of the game and Courtship can lead to Marriage.
One of the Initial Requests deals with social interactions. If you live in
Bluebell, Cheryl will give you the Tutorial. If you live in Konohana, it is
Ayame who will impart some information about making friends.
Cheryl will tell you:
Cheryl: To improve your friendship with people, just talk to them every day!
People naturally become better friends with some one who talks to them every
day! My big brother Ashâ€™s rule of building friendships is: Greet every one you
meet! Fulfilling requests and taking part in village events are good, too! And
thatâ€™s how it works!
Then:
Cheryl: Did you kow that you can give gifts to people? To give some one a gift,
talk to them while holding what you want to give them! If the present is
something they like, theyâ€™ll be soooo happy! Youâ€™ll become closer friends and
theyâ€™ll like you more! But if you give them something they hate, theyâ€™ll like
you less. Hmm? Worried youâ€™ll give some one something they hate? Tee-hee! Donâ€™t
worry! Even if you donâ€™t give gifts to people, just talk to them to become
better friends! If you talk to them every day, youâ€™ll learn the things they
like and dislike!
End of Tutorial
The process of raising Friendship Levels will be familiar to any one who ever
played Harvest Moon and/or Rune Factory. Primary is the ritual of 'meeting and
greeting' every one regularly. If you can do this on a daily basis with every
one in both Villages, so much the better. If not, try to alternate between
Characters or Villages so that you do not neglect any one.
It is not necessary to give Gifts to Characters in order to raise Friendship

Levels but Gifts are worth more in terms of Friendship Points than simple
conversation. Remember when you speak to any one to speak to them two or three
times. The first dialogue will be no more than a greeting. It is when you speak
to some one again and then once more after that in the course of any encounter
that you will learn interesting facts and details.
Only one Gift can be given to any Individual per day. If you attempt to give a
second Gift, it will be refused very politely.
Another important social interaction in Tale of Two Towns is the Request

System, whereby you can complete Requests that are posted on the Bulletin
Boards both in Bluebell Village and in Konohana Village. The successful
completion of a Request will raise Friendship Levels as well as giving Rewards
in the form of special Items, including new Tools.
At the start of the game, Request Rewards in the form of Cooked Dishes often
will be a means of obtaining Favourite Gifts for other Characters that
otherwise could not be created or purchased in the first or second seasons of
gameplay.
Harvest Moon games are driven by social interactions. New options are unlocked
often when you attain a specific Friendship Level with a Character. Heart
Events, technically 'Flower Events' in Two Towns, cannot be experienced until
you have reached a required Flower Level with the Eligible Girl or Bachelor in
question.
As Cheryl will instruct you, a Gift should be an Item that the Character likes
in order to have a positive effect on Friendship Levels. An Item that the
Character dislikes or loathes will decrrease Friendship Levels although the
effect is not permanent.
There is one special Gift that is worth far more than all others for each of
the Eligible Girls and Bachelors. This 'Most Favourrite Gift' has a value of
+800 Friendship Points when given. On the other end of the spectrum, there is
one distrinct Item that is an object of Utter Horror when given to an
Individual. The value of this Negative Gift is -1000 Friendship Points!
Every Character is different in his/her Likes and Dislikes. What pleases one
Individual may disgust another. Although Rubbish Items are scorned by most
Characters, there usually is some one who will perceive at least one of these
Items as useful or desirable. Paying attention to a Characters's Responses is
an important aspect of gameplay.
Apart from the Gifts that have significant value in Tale of Two Towns, there
are far more that are simply Acceptable. These Gifts are worth +50 FP when
given to a Character. There is no time limit where Friendship or Courtship is
concerned. A Player should not be too focused on 'Most Favourite Gifts',
especially at the start of the game, when most of those Items will be
unattainable. Many Most Favourite Gifts are Cooked Dishes, made often with rare
or expensive Ingredients. Make the effort to 'Meet and Greet' every one instead
and to give an Item that is Acceptable whenever possible. You will find that
Friendship Levels will increase fairly quickly if you follow this plan.
As Courtship and Marriage are very popular aspects of any Harvest Moon game,
this Guide lists Eligible Girls and Eligible Bachelors first, followed by a
section that is devoted to all Other Characters.
You will find basic information, including Birthdays and Favourite Gifts
included here, as well as a brief description of each Character. Easiest Gifts,
usually Items that are found in the Wilds or are extremely inexpensive, are
suggested whenever possible.
Actual Responses to Gifts are included. The Items mentioned in connection with
these Responses are not the ONLY Gifts that would elicit the Response in
question but rather are Items that actually have been tested. Any Gift that
elicits a specific Response will have equal Friendship Points value to any
other Item that prompts the same Response.

Easiest Gifts List
********************
Finding the Most Favourite Gift for any Individual and giving it to him or her
can be very satisfying emotionally and it is worth more in terms of increase in
Friendship but simple liked Gifts that are given to the same Character
regularly ultimately will raise his/her Friendship Level to the same degree if
not more.
In most cases, a Most Favourite Gift may be a Cooked Dish or a very valuable
and rare Item. Using simple inexpensive Items that are plentiful and can be
given to a number of Characters is a good strategy in any Harvest Moon or Rune
Factory game.
Among these inexpensive Gifts are Wildflowers such as Magic Blue Flower or
Moondrop, Butterflies, Locusts or other Insects, Small Fish of different
varieties, Mushrooms of every type, Walnuts and even Branches or Stones. Any
Item in Harvest Moon can be detested by one Individual and loved by another, so
you need to know when to give an Item and when to withhold it. The Easiest
Gifts List can be a useful tool in this respect.

Alisa is a Character from Sunshine Islands and Island of Happiness. She, with
Nathan, preside over the Church ceremonies and whatever rituals occur unseen by
others. You can marry Alisa in Tale of Two Towns, but she has special
requirements as befits a priestess of the Harvest Goddess. Although you can
marry Alisa, she will not have a child, presumably because she has taken vows
of chastity.
You will not meet Alisa at the start of the game. You must raise Nathan's FP to
2 White Flowers, and have reached Autumn of the second year. You then can
experience her Introduction Event by walking to the Mountaintop between 10.00
p.m. and 3.00 a.m. (Nathan will become the local Priest at the Church on 3
Winter of the first year.)
Alisa has the same likes and dislikes as she had in Island of Happiness and
Sunshine Islands. She dislikes all Curries as well as any Dish with Curry
Powder as an Ingredient, although Curry Powder itself is acceptable to her. She
adores Ice Cream but will consider a simple Branch, Stone or even a Weed a
decent Gift.

you can admire the exterior of the beautiful white stone building, you will be
unable even to read the writing there.
The Oracle can make special Potions for you if you bring the required
Ingredients. The cost of any Potion is 1000G.

Winter, Snowy. The snow from yesterday's blizzard really piled up. When I went
outside to start shoveling, I saw him and his little sister. Unnoticed by her
brother, she was putting bugs on all the girls who got near him. One one hand,
it's sweet to see how the two of them are always together...But on the other
hand, I feel a little bad for him. He can't get a girlfriend with his little
sister tagging along all the time. I'll have to keep an eye out. If there's a
girl who wants to be with him, and can put up with his kid sister all the
time...I'll just have to play matchmaker! He seems to be free on the afternoons

Spring, Rainy. He's come back from the trip he took to learn about flower
arranging. I can't believe he's grown so much in only a year! But he's just as

out except to study or work. Even after he gets home, he never takes a break,

Raul is one of the three Hispanic merchant brothers familiar to Players of

Grand Bazaar, now living in the Two Villages. He manages the General Store in
Konohana. His brother Diego manages its counterpart in Bluebell Village. Items
sold at the Bluebell General Store can be found at the Konohana General Store
as well but not at the same time. When looking for a specific Item, therefore,
it always is a good idea to visit both Shops.
The three brothers dress in traditional Mexican outfits, wearing ponchos and
sombrero hats. Each has his own colour of outfit. The third brother, Enrique
will tell you that he is in charge of supplies.

your first tasks is to mend the rift between the two Mayors, improving their
Friendship and increasing the harmony between the Two Towns.
Rutger lives with his wife Rose at the Bluebell Town Hall. He presides at the
counter and give 'Town Tours' as well as allowing you to stay in a guest room
overnight if you wish to do so.

even when working in the Smithy. He will give you a Hammer when you complete
his first Request. As would be appropriate for some one who imitates Pandas, he
will be delighted by a Gift of a piece of Bamboo or even a Gift of a Bamboo
Shoot, although he prefers the former.

Sheng: Oh, it's you, Freyr. Not now, not now. I'm thinking about pandas. Look
at all the bamboo around here! Panda chow!

why I'm living here with my grandma instead of with my parents.
Ying: Rahi's so lucky. He's always full of energy, running around the village.
I wish I could have races with him...

Village. She is a superb cook who specialises in Asian Harvest Moon delicacies
such as Kappa Rolls as well as a wide variety of Teas. She lives with her
granddaughter Ying in the rooms behind the Tea Shop and presides at the counter
selling her wares.
Ina will praise Yun's cooking and hint that:
Ina: Yun is a great cook. Get to know her, and she'll teach you some recipes.
Actual Dialogue:
Yun: Itâ€™s quite a chore to prepare all the ingredients for the cafÃ©. Maybe I
need to hire some part-time help.
Yun: Can you spare some time to play with Ying? It would be a big favour to me.
Then:
Yun: I need to think up some new dishes to put on the menu. What would be good...?
On her day off, at the exit from Konohana:
Yun: My husband and I used to go on dates here. It hasn't changed a bit.
