    The students are expected to be able:

     to act out a conversation and practice of assessing nose, sinuses, mouth, and
    pharynx, and
     to write a nursing documentation of nose, sinuses, mouth and pharynx
    assessment result.

    Direction. Study the following useful expressions when assessing head, face, and neck and practice
    them.
    A. Greeting

    B. Self-Introduction

     I am Nurse Shanti. I will take care of you today.

    C. Explaining what you are going to do

    Integrated Listening and Speaking Exercise


    Direction. Accomplish the following conversation then act out the dialogue.

    Nurse : Well, now it’s time for me (1) to check your nose. Sinuses mouth and
    pharynx.Do you have difficulty breathing through your nose?
    Patient : No, I don’t.
    Nurse : Ok. Now I want you to tip your head back slightly. I need (2) to check
    your nostril.
    Ok, Fine. That’s it.

    Direction. Choose a pair and write a complete conversation on the acts of assessing nose, sinuses,
    mouth and pharynx. You can use the useful expressions above. Then, practice and present your
    communication practice.

    mouth and pharynx. Are you having trouble breathing through your nose?
