Introduction
Abstract:
This experiment was carried out to gain an understanding of the many types of mechanical
lab machines and tools (such as non-precision or bench hand tools, semi-precision tools,
precision tools, and so on) as well as the function of each lab as well as the safety measures to
operate the machine. This experiment will assist us in determining which machine we may
employ at which exact moment to get the required outcomes. The study, design,
development, building, and testing of mechanical and thermal sensors and devices, such as
tools, engines, and machines, is known as mechanical engineering. Machining is a
manufacturing technique that involves removing undesirable material from raw materials
using a machine.

Power Hack Saw;
Power hacksaws are used to cut large sizes (sections) of metals such
as steel. Cutting is very hard work with a normal hand held hacksaw.
Therefore, power hacksaws have been developed to carry out the
difficult and time-consuming work.

Safety Rules & Regulations
During working in Mechanical Engineering Lab, the following safety rules must
be followed.
Eye protection:
Wear safety glasses or appropriate goggles/face shields at all-time in the lab weather
working or not. Eye protection is protective gear for the eye, which comes in many
types depending upon the threat that is to be reduced. The threats can be particles,
light, wind blast, heat, sea spray or some type of ball or puck used in sports.
Ear protection:
Ear protection refers to devices used to protect the ear, that are ear plugs or ear
muffs, either externally from elements such as cold, intrusion by water and other
7
environmental conditions, or specifically from noise of machines like punch press,
pneumatics chisels or power hacksaws.
Hand Protection:
Safety gloves should be used for handling hot objects, glass or sharp-edge items.
Remove gloves before operating rotating machinery. Never clean away chips with
your hands use a brush. Do not touch moving or rotating parts.
Foot Protection:
Foot protect are required where the potential for serious injury to the foot may
result from a person’s daily job duties. Foot injuries may occur in areas where there
is rolling or falling objects, objects piercing the sole, or where feet are exposers to
electrical hazards. Use work boots, if street shoes are permitted, they should have
closed toe, a thick rubber sole, and laces should be tied securely
Electrical safety:
Always check to see that the power switch is OFF before plugging and unplugging
into the outlet. You have to know about where the emergency cutoff breaker in lab.
Switch off the machine after completion of work. All maintenance and repair work
should be done with the power off, if any work requires power on, extreme care
should be taken.

Conclusion
To summarize, the experiment is carried out in order to gain an overview of the many
machines (such as the lathe machine, shaper machine, universal milling machine, and floor
standing drill machine) present in the mechanical engineering lab and to determine the
purpose of each equipment. To become acquainted with tools such as non-precision or
bench hand tools, semi-precision tools, precision tools, and so on. In addition, you should be
aware of the safety norms and regulations for working in a mechanical engineering lab.
