Satisfaction
Subjectively, when patients in the music group were asked
about hypothetically needing another nasal closed reduction
with local anesthesia, 100% reported a preference for the
music. Additionally, 94% of them felt that the music
decreased negative symptoms. All patients in the study—
those who received music therapy and those who did not—
recommended the use of music in other surgical procedures
with local anesthesia.
Discussion
To our knowledge, this is the first study to incorporate
music therapy for modulating pain in nasal bone fracture
reductions with local anesthesia. Our findings include objec-

over time if they hear music, even after experiencing the
procedure. By contrast, the control group exhibited
increased anxiety levels after the procedure. The reduction
of anxiety under exposure to music during nasal reduction
seems to diminish the pain experience. We hypothesize that
this occurs by means of modulating the emotional-affective
dimension of pain mechanisms at a central level.
These results, combined with the lower recalled VAS
score 7 days postoperatively, seem enough to assess music
therapy as useful in pain management. Moreover, our find-
ings correlate this objective observation with an average
lower SBP during the procedure as a whole, thus reflecting
the top-down effects of central modulation of music therapy
in peripheral responses to pain and giving relevance to this
technique far beyond the limits of purely psychological phe-
nomena. On a patient-to-patient basis, we also observed a
tendency of heart rate to be lower or remain stable in the
music group as compared with the control group. However,

changes in heart rate measurements were large, and we

STAI, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Altogether, the results showed lower SBP, less anxiety
(measured by STAI), and less pain according to the VAS,
showing a positive effect of the use of music for this proce-
dure. Music therapy is a low-cost and simple intervention
that is widely available, does not generate adverse effects,
can improve the doctor-patient relationship and the experi-
ence associated with health care, and can have an important
role in the management of anxiety and pain associated with
this and other procedures of this specialty.
The general opinion of the patients who received music
during this medical procedure was that they were satisfied
with the intervention of music. Therefore, we think that it
would be interesting to extend its use and incorporate it into
our everyday practice of therapeutic options.
In conclusion, a significant reduction in SBP, anxiety,
and pain was achieved when patients heard music while
undergoing closed reduction of nasal fracture. Although fur-

people taken by purposive sampling technique (5 samples of distraction and 5 people of
relaxation samples). The analysis in this research is univariate and bivariate analysis with

average pain intensity before being given relaxation techniques was 5.60 after being given

meaning that there is a significant difference. The results of this study can be concluded that
there are differences in the level of pain in the distraction group and the relaxation group.
This is expected to be a consideration by the hospital management to make guidelines /
standard operating procedures including regulations to maintain calm during a combination
of distraction and relaxation techniques as well as providing special facilities / rooms needed
for intervention.

Abstract
Most fractures are caused by traffic accidents with an estimated number of fractures in the world
between 1 and 2.9 million with different age classifications. Each fracture will always undergo
surgery followed by administering analgesics to reduce pain during the surgery. Non-
pharmacological management to deal with pain consists of various physical treatment measures
including skin stimulus, electrical nerve stimulation of the skin, acupuncture. The purpose of the
study was to assess the effect of giving classical music mozart in reducing fracture pain in the
Dahlia Room of ArifinAchmad Hospital Pekanbaru. Quasy Experiment Research Design, non
randomized control group pretest postest design. The research sample was 30 respondents, with a
sampling technique accidental sampling. The study was analyzed univariately and bivariately with
the Wilcoxon and Man Whitney test. Testing the reduction in the degree of fracture pain in the
control and experimental groups obtained the mean value of the experiment 6.71 post experiment
2.66 control value pre 6.35 and control post 6.48 with a value of ρ value 0.000 means that there is
an influence of giving classical music mozart to fracture pain. Hopefully it can be used as a
reference in providing mozart classical music distraction techniques to reduce pain in
postoperative fracture patients.

penanganan fisik meliputi stimulus kulit, stimulus elektrik saraf kulit, akupuntur.

fraktur.
