1. The change of an antenna terminal
 Remove the rear cover and change an antenna terminal on RX UNIT (CMN-2333).
 㧔At first, the coaxial cable of rear cover is connected to the "ACT" of antenna terminal. : Refer
to the following figure.㧕

- Select the "ACT" terminal, when


connecting NAW-333.
- Change the "50 ohms" or “HI-Z
(High-impedance)” terminals by
antenna’s impedance when using
antenna other than NAW-333.

2. Cable clamp
 Cables can be fastened by tie-wraps.

3. Connection with optional equipments
 Connect the cable of connection kit to the connector on RX UNIT (CNM-2333) when optional
equipments (External buzzer, Remote maintenance, MPD) are connected to NCR-333. Run the
cable of connection kit through the hole of Rear cover, and connect it to the terminal.

1. Inspection
At unpacking a package for the NAW-333 unit in first time, inspect for the followings:
(1) To be no shipping damage for the unit and its accessories.
(2) To make sure the number of contents with referring the COMPOSITION OF NAW-333.

2. Storage
Store the all components in a dry room until installation.

3. Installation Procedure
(1) Assembly of Whip antenna
The whip antenna should be screwed directly into the top of NAVTEX Antenna unit and
tighten up by using a spanner. After clamping, please waterproof a whip antenna base with
silicon rubber and so on.

(3) Installation
Install the NAW-333 NAVTEX Antenna in accordance with the following procedure:
1) Select the location where obstructions are not within a radius of 1m, and reinforce
the antenna pole with a supporter as shown in the Fig.5 to prevent damage with
vibration on a ship
The NAVTEX antenna is kept away from the MF/HF antenna at least 2m or
more, and should be installed.
2) Connect a hull side coaxial cable to an antenna side coaxial cable and wrap the
joint with self-bonding tape, and, please wind vinyl tape more (Refer to Fig.5)
3) Connect the earth cable to the grounding point. (Refer to Fig.4)
In the point that connected a ground to an earthed line, please waterproof it with silicon
rubber and so on. Please do waterproofing so that water is not included from the
coating of the earthed line.

Take a proper length of tape off the role.
While pulling in accordance with tape manual,
wrap it around the connector with one half of it
overlapped so that the wrapped tape may form
N type connector (Jack) three layers.
However, portions between the connector and
cable have different diameters. This portion apply
N type connector(Plug) tape more than the other portions.
When the tape has been wrapped, press to hold
by hand.
Protective PVC tape (vinyl tape)
Taking care not to give tension to the tape,

wrap the tape around the connector with one
half of it overlapped so that the wrapped tape
may form three layers.

order.

Fold the raveled braid as shown in the left figure,


cut them to the length of up to area A, and then

stretch them on the periphery of the clamp

5 Dip-solder the conductor.

1. Insert the conductor while melting solder in
the center contact.

Measure the insulating resistance. The insulating

resistance is 10 M ohms or more.

5.1 Initial settings

x After installation or replacing of the equipment, be sure to execute initial setting before operation.
x After the end of operation in the field maintenance mode, be sure to restart the equipment in the
normal mode (with the [PWR/CONT] key pressed).

5.1.1 Field maintenance mode and “INITIAL SETTING” menu


To make initial setting, start the equipment in the field maintenance mode, and then select the
“INITIALSETTING” menu. When turning off the power, press and hold the [PWR/CONT] and [DIM]
keys down until the power turns off.

[Operation Procedure]
(1) When turning on the power, press and hold the [PWR/CONT] and [MENU] keys down until the

- JRC: The message data of NAVTEX is outputted to ECDIS (manufactured by JRC).
- INS: The message data is outputted to INS (Integrated Navigation System).

Select “ON” (this port is used) or “OFF” (this port is not used) for “REMOTE MAINTENANCE (DATA OUT 2)”,
“EXT ALM” and "DISP" port.
- REMOTE MAINTENANCE: To output data to the remote maintenance system, select "ON".
- EXT ALM: To use an external buzzer, select “ON”
CLOSE: Select "CLOSE", when CGC-300B is connected.

Perform a connection check. Check data is outputted to the external equipment connected from this
equipment. Confirm that check data is displayed (or printed) on external equipment.
