BRANCH APE GAS

Ans.1 Some factors that may enhance the appeal of natural gas as a domestic and
industrial fuel.
Impact Of Weather
Economic Growth
Competition Among Resources
Natural Gas Storage
Natural gas can be easily found, is abundant as it is available from nature.
Natural gas highly flammable due to high level of methane.
Natural gas is less corrosive due to high methane and low carbon composition.
Natural gas is environmentally clean.
Natural gas is easy to deliver.
Ans. 2 The impurities that we can expect in natural gas are co2,H2S,N2, H2O and
other impurities.
Ans 3. Tight Gas Reservoirs
Tight gas refers to natural gas reservoirs produced from reservoir rocks with such
low permeability that considerable hydraulic fracturing is required to harvest the
well at economic rates. These resources are sealed in extremely impermeable, hard
rock, making the underground formation extremely “tight”. Tight gas reservoirs are
generally defined as having less than 0.1 millidarcy (mD) matrix permeability and
less than 10% matrix porosity. Tight gas can also be trapped in sandstone or
limestone formations that are atypically impermeable or nonporous, also known as
tight sand. Many of the low-permeability reservoirs that have been developed in
the past are sandstone, but significant quantities of gas are also produced from low-
permeability carbonates, shales, and coal seams. For successful production from
tight gas reservoirs, a vertical well drilled and completed must be successfully
stimulated to produce at commercial gas flow rates and produce commercial gas
volumes. Compared with a conventional gas production scenario, more wells need
to be drilled in tight gas reservoirs to recover the gas-in-place.

ANS 4. (a) ASSOCIATED GAS.

The gas produced during crude oil production and is the gas that is associated with
crude oil.
Crude oil cannot be produced without producing some of its associated gas, which
comes out of solution as the pressure is reduced on the way to and on the surface.
(b). DRY GAS
Natural gas is considered as dry gas when it is almost pure methane, having has
most of the other commonly associated hydrocarbons removed.
When other hydrocarbon is present, the natural gas is wet.
Ans. 5 The Separation module optimises the recovery of hydrocarbons to close to
100% by means of Liquid/Solid (decanter) and Liquid/Liquid separation (high
speed separator). Alternatively, a Solid/Liquid/Liquid separation module can be
used (three-phased decanter). Solid/Liquid (decanter) and metering module
basically means taking a light reading. Your camera has a built-in meter that
measures the amount of light in whatever scene you’re shooting and enables it to
determine the appropriate settings to properly expose the photo. This meter
replaces the old light meters that photographers had to use in the old days of film
photography.
