GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The air conditioning system developed for Ducato Minibus looks like a successful integration between the functions
of heating, cooling and dehumidification carried out by the original unit into the dashboard and those of ventilation and
cooling of the passenger compartment generated by the rear unit provided.
Each side rear evaporator installed under roof inside the minibus is equipped with 1 electric centrifugal blower that
draws cooled and dehumidified air from the evaporator and conveys in the distribution duct supplied with the system.
The distribution of the air in the passenger compartment, carried out through ducts, has been studied to obtain a
pleasant microclimate for the occupants. A series of fixed louvers cools the side windows and send the air towards the
central corridor, other air diffusers are placed on top of the ducting; in addition, the ducts can be customized with
different variants of nozzles with the possibility to be oriented, adjusted or closed by the passengers, according to their
preferences. The upper part of the ducts can be used for the storage of small luggage.
A powerful electroventilated roof condenser is added to the original front condenser. Its position permits a ventilation
with clean air and reduced maintenance.

OPERATION
Please note: the passengers compartment ventilation mode is always possible but the cooling mode can be activated
only if the cabin A/C is on.

MAINTENANCE
After 1.500 Km, from the A/C system installation, a general inspection must be carried out, particularly check that the
screws and bolts fastening the compressor, condenser, evaporators and their brackets, are tightened.
Before removing the cover of the electric-fan condenser for maintenance and cleaning, disconnect the vehicle battery.
If the air conditioner is used in very dusty environments, maintenance should be more frequent.
At the beginning of each season, inspect each component of the system, including electrical components, to ensure that
no anomalies have occurred.
It is necessary to make a periodic general check and in particular, make sure that screws and bolts holding the
compressor, evaporators, condensers and filter are properly tightened.
At the beginning of hot season, we recommend to check the correct operation of the system. Usually, a lack of
coolant reduces the performances. If necessary, a cycle of recovery, vacuum and refrigerant refilling can be done. In
case of severe coolant lack, before recharging, find out the leak point and repair it.
In case of important repairs it is advisable to replace the receiver drier. This operation is essential when the system is
left open for a long time or it has accumulated humidity inside it.
At least twice a year, clean the condenser coil by blowing with compressed air. Do not damage the fins. Increase the
frequency of this operation in case of muddy or dusty roads. At the same time, inspect the proper working of the
condenser fans. Consider that the cleaning of the condenser and the inspection of the right ventilation are very
important operations. As a matter of fact, a very dirty or non-ventilated condenser, reduces the conditioning system
performances and shortens the compressor life and can lead to the breakdown of the compressor or of its
electromagnetic clutch.
Twice a year, check the tension of the compressor belt; if it is worn out, replace it by one of the same type.
Once a month switch the air conditioning system on for at least 15 minutes to maintain a proper state of lubrication of
the compressor; this should be done also in colder seasons.
The A/C system operates with refrigerant HFC R134a. The optimal charge is 2600 grams of R134a.
