Childhood is, without a doubt, the most remarkable and memorable period of our
lives. Those moments of the day when we get to spend our favorite part of the day with
our friends. Playing until nightfall with our best playmates and eating our favorite candy
while watching our favorite television series. When I think back on my childhood
memories, I can't help but cry and get shivers all over my body. I wish I could go back in
time and relive those times. W watching the Kanlungan video gave me a nostalgic feeling.
When computers, tablets, Android phones, and the internet were not yet invented,
children's delight was simple.

Filipino children nowadays have grown up in a very different world. Now, social
media and devices play an important role in their life. However, those of us who were
born in the early 2000s are not among them. Without the internet, we could simply
breathe and go about our daily lives. Recalling and going down memory lane becomes a
little more enjoyable.

I remember back then when my lola will let me sleep in the afternoon and in
return, she will allow me to play outside when I wake up. When I wake up, my friends
living next door are already outside of our house waiting for me so we can fly a kite
together at the back of our house where there is a big vacant lot. Sometime we use this
big space to play various games such as luksong baka, patintero, tumbang preso, shatong
and many more. I also miss playing under the rain. But sometimes when the rain is very
heavy and comes with a lightning, my lola won’t allow me to play outside. So instead of
playing outside, me and my sisters will just play inside the house. Get our paper dolls,
dress them up and sometimes play with our ps2.

Now, technology has damaged social interaction. Conversation is no longer

appropriate. Kids are becoming sluggish. Parents utilize their electronic devices as
babysitters. But life moves on, and the only constant in this world is change. I'm one of
the lucky ones. I get to take a rain shower outside. I'm hoping that this generation
remembers that it's wonderful to unplug and do something other than sit on the couch all
day. Spend more time with your family and make actual friends rather than internet
friends.
